Elemental Chaos

The Elemental Chaos is the border plane for all the other physical planes. If you travel far enough in one of the elemental planes, you'll reach an edge where the base element begins to change into things completely separated from natural laws. The Plane Of Fire starts seeing fire that grows material instead of destroying it, the Plane Of Water sees oceans flying in the clouds, the Plane Of Air sees winds forming bubbles, and the Plane Of Earth sees tornados of stone.   The Elemental Chaos is a place where the only constant is change, one never knows what they are stepping into. This makes travel and survival incredibly difficult, but not impossible. The creatures found in the Elemental Chaos are typically illogical for the common mind, and a majority of them are quite lethal as well.

Geography

The geography of The Elemental Chaos is ever-changing, a mix of destructive energy and constant motion. In the Elemental Chaos one can encounter impossible geographical areas, mountains built of water, storms of fire and stone, and air so dense it has become a solid surface. Essentially the geography of the Elemental Chaos could be anything, and it could be something else entirely only seconds after.

Ecosystem

Due to the very nature of the Elemental Chaos, there is almost no steady ecosystem to be found in the plane. Only some creatures can be considered part of the overall ecosystem in the Elemental Chaos, these creatures are powerful enough to travel to most parts of the plane, and therefore affects the ecosystem in the entire plane. Most other creatures are only a bad storm away from turning from predator to prey, from living to extinct.   One unquestionable fact about the Elemental Chaos is that it is, in it's very nature, chaotic. No species will never make a permanent change in the Elemental Chaos, but some leave bigger and longer lasting effects than others. Some creatures can erase entire natrual phenomenons, as such these creatures of course alter the ecosystem, but in the end, those phenomenons were never permanent to begin with.

Localized Phenomena

Airways. What appears to be a gigantic bridge can be found throughout the Elemental Chaos, and is used as a means of travel for the creatures finding themselves in this inner plane. The bridge is seemingly made of nothing, however upon analysis it appears to be made of air which has somehow become dense enough to be a walkable surface. When damaged or destroyed, the bridge seemingly regenerates without any issue, and it capable of holding incredible amounts of weight. It is never quite clear where the bridge will be, or where it will connect to as it changes at random. When the bridge experiences storms or strong winds in the plane, it seems to float along with the storm, joining new places together and abandoning it's earlier connections.   Boiling Deserts. Found in various places throughout the Elemental Chaos, the boiling desert appears to be a "normal" desert covered in ice and subjected to incredible snow and storms regularly. The desert is however much more dangerous, it's sands constantly moving, forming massive bubbles, some the size of carts, others the size of islands and others still the size of countries. These bubbles, covered in sand rise upwards from the desert, exploding at random intervals and raining fire and brimstone back down onto the frozen sands. From afar, the desert appears to be boiling like a pot of water.   Flying Oceans. Flying oceans are seen throughout the Elemental Chaos, these massive bodies of water float and fly throughout the plane seemingly with no magic or way of doing so. These oceans carry all kinds of things, including storms, lava and much more. The oceans seemingly do not care that they should not be able to hold these other elements, and will randomly pick them up and disperse them throughout the plane.   Rock Storms. A rock storm appears to move and act like a regular storm of wind, however it is entirely made of stone and rock. They can be as small and weak as to be considered just a worse version of hail, however they can also be massive realm altering events that destroy everything in their path. There have been multiple sitings of tornados made of stone, these moving towers of stone are so destructive that they carve dee valleys throughout the Elemental Chaos, and kill almost any creature caught in them.   Islands. Islands is a broad term in the Elemental Chaos, and refers to places that are somewhat stable, and where a creature could rest for a long period of time. The most common of these are random patches of seemingly undisturbed rock or earth, however some creatures are more adaptable than others, and could survive on other islands made of other elements. All in all a more adaptable creature will have more islands, while a less adaptable creature will have fewer.

Fauna & Flora

Despite the fact that the elemental chaos is most likely one of the universes most dangerous places, there are still plenty of creatures who find themselves there. It is important to note that there are two reasons why a creature would find itself in the elemental chaos, either it was born there, or it traveled there.

Born creatures

Species who are naturally found in the Elemental Chaos, and who procreate there, are considered "Chaotic born" creatures. These creatures are usually quite abstract compared to how one would usually see a species, often made up of many different elements, and capable of truly perplexing things. Some of these creatures are similar to creatures found in other planes, and are possibly descendants of the same ancestors, and these creatures are often named according to this. Examples of these creatures would be:   Chaos Giant. Massive creatures, each body part made of a different element, these creatures can move throughout a large part of the elemental chaos without issue, and depending on the giant, can eat a variety of different things found in the plane. They are pretty much only named "giant" due to their size and their tendency to appear humanoid in shape, at least with two arms and two legs.   Tunnel worm. These creatures can be fairly large, but a lot of them are only a few meters long. These worms survive in the elemental chaos through their peculiar skin secretion, some type of ooze covers them and hardens incredibly fast, even in front of them. The worm essentially encases itself in this ooze-produced material, and then eats it's way through it to go forward, making new material along the way. This protective shell means they can survive tunneling through incredible elements, and essentially go wherever they want, as they can also tunnel through space with only air. Their tunnels can be seen throughout the plane, long tubes straight through the air sometimes. They are a prey animal in the elemental chaos, as their tunnel is the only protection they have.   Gatherers. 4-legged insectoids, these creatures have incredibly long and flexible eye sockets along with incredibly strong and long legs. Gathers seem to spit or throw up some sort of glue, covering what they deem suitable materials in it, and the sticking it to their bodies. This ability means that gathers can build themselves a body that can survive their chosen area. Gathers have been seen surviving the boiling desert by covering themselves in stone and clumps of lava and molten rock to defend against the heat and debris.

Travelling creatures

Traveling creatures refers to creatures capable of surviving in the Elemental Chaos, at least for a time, and who have somewhat regular access to it. These creatures can be born in the Elemental Chaos, but it is not their native plane. It is theorized that most, if not all born creatures in the Elemental Chaos are descendants of these travelling creatures. Examples of such creatures are:   Genies. Genies are inherently magical, this along with their native planes being close to the Elemental Chaos means they have more than one way of reaching the plane. Genies of substantial power can even just teleport directly in and out of the Elemental Chaos.   Elementals. Elementals from the other planes may not have the same magical access as Genies, however they are still native to planes bordering the Elemental Chaos. An elemental of only a single element would of course struggle, but would be capable of finding habitable biomes. It is theorized that creatures such as the Chaos Giant evolved from elementals that traveled to the Elemental Chaos.

Natural Resources

Due to the incredible danger in the Elemental Chaos, it is hard to collect and catalogue the resources found in the plane. The Elemental Chaos is perhaps the plane with the largest quantity and quality of natural resources, being a mix of all the other elemental planes, the Elemental Chaos has every single resource imaginable. The Elemental Chaos also carries resources found in no other place due to it defying many of the general accepted rules of nature. In the Elemental Chaos you can find flaming water, rocks lighter than air, lightning so dense it could be held in your hand and much more.    The resources found in the Elemental Chaos vary from incredibly valuable to worthless, and from harmless to life-threatening. What one can always expect is that whatever resource is needed, it will always be dangerous to collect.
