"Damn it, the twig blights have infected the orchard, Kids! Quick, go grab the flame poles! We need to deal with this before they spread. Yes Now! Damn kids..." -Gardener near the Glaion Keep.
Twig blights are for all intents and purposes a rot creature. They seemingly spring up out of nowhere and cause damage to trees. They typically enjoy fruit trees for the sugar they can get, and seem to enjoy the taste of the trees more, when available. They hook onto the trees and can reproduce up to three times a day. Thus making these infections quite serious, if the farmer doesn't want to lose their entire orchard, or cause a mass famine for all neighboring orchards.
These small imp-like creatures stand only a few inches tall, they have mossy skin and have hooked claws on their hands and feet. While they have wings, they typically don't use them as they scurry from branch to branch not unlike squirrels. They can been seen near the crooks of branches out of view from the ground, where they use their sand paper like tongues to grind away at the tree. If on a fruit tree, they do this to the fruits first, instead. While this practice may seem questionable from a subtly aspect. The usually attack the fruits on the tops of trees first, where they wont be seen as easily in the dense foliage.
Farmers will use flame poles, which are like a glass blowing pipe, but with a small gas fire on the end where they will blow into it causing a small gout of flame and incinerate the Blight. Or you can use a candle shot spell, with an amount of marksmanship this does the same thing. They can be shot down, or squished, but that is typically not seen as worth the effort.
