Mechanics & Inner Workings

There is a small amount of magic imbued into the pendant, the caster will sit with the object for a unspecified amount of time in the presence of an amblic. The Amblic is a basic magic distillation device, where the caster will slowly drop magic into the distiller to be infused into the material.   A simple enough proceedure, the caster will link the recipient to the object in a way that they will know if the object is ever opened when they do not have it with them.

History

These boxes are a relatively common keepsake on the Ilse of Mhuzelt. The box is more or less a pendant with a rose and thorn carved into either a bronzed metal or a dense hardwood. The piece of jewelry is a gift between someone deceased and someone who is still alive. They are a common sight to see on a widow or widower.   The box is sealed shut in any way possible. These are meant to be some sentimental memory between the two people, a wedding vow, a map to a secluded place, a letter shared long ago. The gift is typically given without notice or preamble. The recipient is never to open the box, lest the bond between them be broken.   These boxes are treasures, at least to those they belong to. Mhuzelti Tradition holds it as profane to open them before both recipients are dead, it is said that this way the memory is made stronger for this effort.

Significance

Wrapped in thorns, you are but That rose yet to bloom In a winter, encrusted in gossamer Her journey through loom Vines, cut and seeth Thorns meant to keep For which we seek The way we travel, is naught For when that rose becomes We shall know yesterday
