Fort Adler

War. War never changes. The Chicago Brotherhood of Steel know this better than most. The original platoon of Brotherhood of Steel Soldiers traveled from out west in a fleet of airships. However, tragedy struck, and during a radstorm, the fleet fell. The Brotherhood of Steel crash landed in the ruins of Chicago. They met the people of Alexandria - a settlement of world renowned scientists and engineers. The Brotherhood made a bargain. They will provide protection from the bands of raiders and super mutants, and in return, the people of Alexandria will share their technological knowledge. Through this partnership, The Chicago Brotherhood of Steel was born and Fort Adler was claimed under The Brotherhood flag.

Demographics

The Brotherhood of Steel takes pride in that it only allows non-mutate humans into their territory. All none human life is terminated on sight.

Government

Elder Salazar is the head of state in Fort Adler. Although the the village leader of Alexandria can voice the concerns of civilians, Elder Salazar has ultimate say regarding the on-goings of Fort Adler.   As a Brotherhood of Steel base, everyone who resides in Fort Adler is ordered to support the ideals of the brotherhood. Civilians can pursue personal lives with little brotherhood intervention - though they are limited to live within the small village of Alexandria. All civilians pay taxes to the Brotherhood, and once a year, ten random civilians must be sent to the Brotherhood of Steel to become recruits.

Infrastructure

Four pre-war buildings have survived The Great War. The Field Museum, The Shedd Aquarium, The Adler Planetarium - now Fort Adler, and Soldier Field. Each building has been fully repurposed to serve The Brotherhood of Steel.
  • The Field Museum serves a general library of the pre-war world. As the Field Museum had exhibits from Vault-Tec, RobCo, and General Atomics, the information housed within its terminals has allowed The Brotherhood to create complex servers to house their data.
  • The Shedd Aquarium was once a place of the scientific pursuit to understand and preserve marine life. The Brotherhood of Steel uses the aquarium grounds as a bioengineering and bioweapon research and development lab.
  • Soldier Field is massive stadium and cost the Brotherhood a great loss of life to reclaim. Now that is has been cleared of feral ghouls, The Brotherhood of Steel uses the large grounds of Soldier Field as an airfield for their airship fleet. Currently, The Brotherhood has three operational airships.
  • Fort Adler is the headquarters of the Chicago Brotherhood of Steel. The former planetarium has given The Brotherhood of Steel access to the Nuclear Satellite Array - an orbital nuclear missile structure, though it can only be fired once. Furthermore, Fort Adler allows the Chicago Brotherhood of Steel to astronomical observation equipment.
There are some post-war structures in Fort Adler.
  • Alexandria began as a small settlement founded by surviving scientists from throughout the Museum Campus. Since The Brotherhood's arrival, it is the only place non-Brotherhood soldiers can be found.
  • Brotherhood Harbor is a port built for the purposes of fishing and water travel. Through this port, The Brotherhood of Steel is able to access Chicago's river system for quick travel.
  • Training Grounds is the place where all Brotherhood initiates get their start. The brutal training regiment has crafted ideal soldiers to traverse the wastelands.
  • No Man's Land is a fortified and contained active combat zone. Just south of Fort Adler are the ruins of Northerly Island; a home for gang of Super Mutants. No Man's Land is littered with fragmentation mines and other traps. Elder Salazar is making it her mission to push through and conquer Northerly Island.

History

The Midwest Brotherhood of Steel built airships to venture forth through the wastelands. However, when tragedy struck, the airships crashed landed in the ruins of Chicago. The Brotherhood of Steel fought and conquered, and found the small settlement of Alexandria - a settlement founded after The Great War by scientists from the local Museum Campus. The Brotherhood offered protection and the opportunity for growth. The village leader could not decline such an offer and Fort Adler was founded. Paladin Sofia Salazar leads the Chicago Brotherhood of Steel and Fort Adler as a whole.
