Chantli Synths

The settlement of Chantli was established by a group synths escaping from the Commonwealth. Chantli is a settlement based in the neighborhood surrounding the Mexican Consulate of Chicago - with the Consulate itself acting the capitol structure. Due to Mexican influences, synths here have created a particular culture that can only be described as "Mexi-Futurism". Wastelanders who have visited Chantli have seen Mexican nationals not just living amongst the synths, but also, leading the synths. Aside from their chosen name - to replace their number designation by The Institute - Chantli Synths have created clan names to honor the matriarch of their chosen family.    The Chantli Synths have become popular in the wasteland for being the exports of top Institute technology. Because of their technological advancement, Chantli Synths are approached by traders from across the Great Lakes Wastelands for weapons, medical equipment, and computer hardware.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Like most people in the Great Lakes Wastelands, the common spoken language is English. However, being that the Chantli Synth's live in a settlement founded by Mexican nationals, Spanish and Nahautl are also commonly spoken.

Shared customary codes and values

Synths that have escaped The Institute know that the key to survival and living a good life is through the connection made in family. Humans in Chantli have earned the trust of synths. Clans have been created as a way for synths to join a family. Each clan is lead by a matriarch who has devoted herself to the protection of their families.

Art & Architecture

Mexican folk art is decorated across the settlement of Chantli, and many Chantli Synths have taken it upon themselves to create a new renaissance of art, music, and fashion. Artwork takes inspiration of Mexican artists of the pre-war world and amalgamates it with the beauty - and often times horrors - of the wastelands.
