Vault 162
While scouring the earth for salvage, an intact pre-war apartment complex was exhumed in an impressively preserved state. Among the treasures within, a room containing a former Vault Tec employee was the most prized. Documents discovered within not only gave clues on where to find a local Vault, but details on a backdoor protocol that allowed anyone to access the root security commands with the right knowledge.
Originally intended as a military cache for the Eden Compound, it contained a wealth of armaments, manufacturing equipment, and munitions. No one ever entered the door in 2077, instead it had existed in a hibernative state up until the Crawler arrived. Taking full advantage of its disarmed state, several months were spent salvaging just the interior.
Not the type to leave any scraps behind, the rest of the Vault was assimilated not long after. Dust and sand have long since filled in the depression, leaving little evidence of its existence to the outside world. The trespass was not overlooked by the sleeping titan however. Timed alerts were noted by the satellites and it isn’t difficult to figure out what makes a trail of thirty three crawler tread marks..
