Reprogrammed Liberator Bots Military Formation in The Great Dust Bowl | World Anvil

Reprogrammed Liberator Bots

Primarily the Mk 1 versions, they were discovered after a run in with a pre-war Chinese ghoul. Discovering the damage the agent had done to her enemies in his time in America, Killian decided to spare him in exchange for information on hidden resource caches originally intended to be used to attack America from the inside. Although much of the ammunition and food reserves were depleted, a treasure trove of these small expendable robots was uncovered and reprogrammed to serve the Robco Liberation Army.

Not useful as a frontline soldier, these lamp-sized machines are most effective when used to spring an ambush. Not only can they easily hide their diminutive form, but they are also excellent climbers and can fly a short distance using small propulsion bursts coupled with a gliding configuration. Once engaged, they make use of a moderately powered energy weapon for ranged combat, and sharp pneumatic leg sweeps for close quarter fighting. Despite their size, they also boast decent protection of their own against enemy attacks.

Repurposing their broadcasting and receiving equipment to communicate with each other, they operate much like a hive mind that makes reactions based off a shared network of data. When one is aware of a threat, the entire swarm can react. It is also not uncommon for them to withdraw and regroup after initial encounters or retreat due to dwindling numbers. This make them harder to predict, as this tactic is typically employed so that a flanking maneuver or second ambush can be achieved to maximize effectiveness.
