Jameson O Canain Character in The Great Dust Bowl | World Anvil

Jameson O Canain

Born in 2054 to a CEO of General Atomics, Jameson was spoiled with a luxurious lifestyle from the day he came out of the womb. His mother spent her days seeing to his every need and desire with a host of human and automated service staff to support her. Taking an early shine to music his parents hired famous artists to be his tutors and prepare him for a career of his own once he graduated high school.

Although there was no mistaking a passion and innate talent for performing, Jameson lacked motivation to complete mundane tasks such as completing his curriculum. This led to a delay in his aspirations and caused a rift between himself and his parents. Not wanting to lose their respect or more importantly their funding, Jameson put off his dreams to focus on college and earn back his father’s trust.

It was clear to his professors that he was a gifted student that simply had trouble focusing on anything he didn’t find entertaining. Jameson was able to maintain a high grade point average despite this and soon found himself back in the good graces of his family. Upon receiving his diploma in business his father surprised him with his very own tour bus and top of the line set of instruments.

After collecting his band and saying his goodbyes, Jameson set off to finally live out his dream with the confidence that he deserved it. Sadly however on his way to Los Vegas the Great War would foil his plans for fame, stranding him in the Garden City while atomic fire and violent sandstorms turned his world upside down. When his skin began to peel and fall off he nearly lost his sanity.

Outraged at his cruel fate, he made a pact not to wallow in pity. Instead, he remained with the others afflicted by the radiation and kept up their spirits with live performances. It took him a while to develop his new voice, however he soon came up with a unique style all his own. With no entertainment being broadcasted after the bombs fell he soon attracted quite a post-apocalyptic fandom.

Once the Rad Farm had been fully established he found his way into further popularity. Continuing to experiment with his style of music he was able to create things like nothing else anyone had ever heard. Not everything could be considered a success, but thanks to a lack of recordings he is only known for his current refined versions. This ability to draw a crowd was quickly noticed by the Dunwich Society, who approached him about the potential of becoming a political ally.

Although Mayors are only permitted terms of five years, there is nothing that prevents someone running every term. Jameson had held consecutive terms in this way for a hundred and fifty years. His opponents usually use running against him as a platform to speak about their own personal causes or simply to provide theatrics to keep the citizens happy.

A mere puppet as far as politics go, Jameson still focuses most of his time creating and performing. He runs his own theater in the Rad Farm where he does everything from stage performances to live concerts. Leaving a trail of scandals in his wake, there is little he is said not to indulge in. Perhaps by design, his ambiguity in partners and chem habits keep the people talking about him long after his shows end.

Having no love for humans he has murdered several in cold blood for heckling his performance. Although he would never admit it, he is still terribly vain and jealous of people with an intact epidermis. Always looking to be an exception to the rule he applies his signature mane of hair with Wonderglue and claims this to be naturally preserved from his unique transformation.
