The Dragon Fang

The Dragon Fang is one of the most legendary magical artifacts to exist. Its power and magic was unrivaled. The blade was hot enough to slice through metal like grass, and it burned all those who tried to touch or block it, except the one that is attuned to it. One could speak a command word to it, and by spinning it, it would create a tornado of fire that would burn everything around it to a crisp, destroying all in its path. It was able to help the wielder cast a variety of fire spells, making it both useful as a weapon and for the purpose of casting spells, for its magic even outweighed in power even in comparison to the greatest casters when it was created, such was its destructive power. It was rarely used by the Golden Dragon, due to its power.   But there was one infamous moment that it was used. The Battle of the Burning River, in the middle of the war with the Chromatic Drakens. A small army of draken that wished to flank his army and destroy them. Kaladan discovered this and faced them himself, unsheathing the dragon fang for the first time. Tales say that the blade burnt the the rain that fell upon it, as heavy dark clouds descended upon the battle field, creating large clouds of steam. As the chromatic draken charged, so did Kaladan. The battle was brutal and destructive, hundreds died to the Golden Dragon, both from his large arcs of his attacks, cutting his enemies clean in half. As they began to overwhelm the emperor, he spoke the magic word for the sword, and began to spin. In a simple few seconds, the area had erupted into fire, as a fire tornado spun violently, shooting up out of the ground, as it tore through the enemy soldiers. The tornado lit up the sky, all could see the pillar of flame for miles as it steadily drifted around in the sky.   The fire was so intense that the rain simply stopped raining around the area, and as the fire slowed down, it gently began to rain there again. What was left was only a vision of an apocalypse, what was one thick forest was now just ash and burnt wood, the grass having turned gray and dead, with Kaladan standing at the center of a wide circle of embers still burning. The enemy was dead, all that was left of them was burning bodies. All that was left was Kaladan, and his mighty weapon.   Since then, the sword was never used again, as the tide of war quickly favored the Empire, and peace was finally established once more. It never once again was unsheathed, but was still carried by the Golden Dragon in the case of emergency. And so, it was buried with him when he died, and so it lies on his chest, held by his arms, awaiting its next user.

Manufacturing process

The process was simple on paper but incredibly difficult to make none the less. First one would need to purify steel ore to perfection, to ensure it would be strong enough to handle the magic. Next, the sword itself must be forged perfectly, perfectly sharp and shaped with no bumps or imperfections. Then the final step was to enchant it, which would take the effort of four highly trained magicians to do, where they must concentrate their energy for at least one hour together upon the sword, and the margin for error was very narrow, and many things would also have to be done to ensure it could be used, such as that it wouldn't activate without command words or linking it to a person. It took years to create, but finally the legendary weapon was made for use.

Significance

The Dragon Fang became the Golden Dragon's favored weapon of choice, for its incredibly power was rivaled by none. It helped make Kaladan the most feared warrior in drakenelm, for none could stand a chance against him when he wielded the powerful Fang
