Gatherlak, the capital of the empire

Perhaps the greatest city to ever grace the world of Drakenelm, for its size and splendor is rivaled by none. Gatherlak is a huge place, with many dense buildings, some of which reaching high into the air. It is a city of cooperation, where each citizen knows they can rely on each other, regardless of race or background. It is a place where all corners of the empire meet, from the north to south. The city has a beauty that none can hope to achieve, with gorgeous architechure and many decorative areas such a statues and open hubs sprawling with merchants trading and selling their goods. It is truly representative of the empire of old, a place where people of all types and creeds can work in harmony for the goal of true prosperity and fulfillment.

Demographics

Gatherlak is a extremely large city with a large amount of people and diverse peoples of all types of ethnicities and races. Approx 58% of the population is metallic, with the rest of all type of blends of people, with all types of races from humans to tieflings to dwarves to tabaxi to goliaths. Most people in the city have a very high income, with very few people who are poor, with those that are on a welfare system to help them, along with a very large proportion of rich citizens. Along with this a large variety of professions from blacksmiths, to academics, to Magic Loremaster, to athlete.

Government

The one who founded and ruled the city before was Kaladan, the golden dragon, but is now ruled by Furrele of the Ethaborg kingdom.   The Draken Court is the centre of law making within the city. This is where the three judges perside, and help create legal documents on all sorts of situations and crimes so that law enforcers know exactly what to do. They are also able to pass laws, but only if it goes through all the ministers or the Dragon.

Defences

The city has a standing army within it and has many guards and defensive fortifications, with heavy ballistas on ten meter walls that are routinely patrolled by guards. The military is heavily armed and trained, with heavy investments into them to ensure the safety of citizens and persecution of danger.

Industry & Trade

Most inhabitants have jobs in guilds within the city, where they are able to pursue the trade of the guild and sell their produce on their own, or work under another person to help create things. This can range from blacksmithing, to baking, to hunting. The majority of the imports are from the distant lands of the empire, such as jewelry from the dwarf lands, animal hides or meat from the North Pillars, or exotic herbs and plants from the great savannahs. Then in turn, the city exports local creations such as magic items, art, and state of the art weapons and armor as well as scrolls of magic

Infrastructure

There are large networks of roads going around the city, connecting everyone within it, with a large variety of different buildings and areas, with courtyards and bridges over the rivers. It has a, for the time, complex sewer system that helped make the city cleaner and much healthier. To the south west of the city are the massive shipyards and docks where traders and travelers would routinely arrive.

Assets

The city has a large economy, both from trade but also from its own produce. The city is also one of the few places that are able to produce a large amount of magical items as well. It has a large variety of stores, from blacksmiths, to scribes, to markets, and other such things, and a lot of luxury goods are sold as well.

Guilds and Factions

There are a large variety of guilds within the city who are essential parts of the industries and commerce within the city, but they usually remain amicable with the local government as they two properly cooperate with each other due to benefits of working together.

Architecture

There is a mishmash of different buildings within the city, but it is primarily stone buildings within it, with some massive buildings such as the Dragon Nest Palace which houses many things but was mainly the home of the Golden Dragon, with other large buildings being massive industrial or work centers housing hundreds of workers.

Geography

The city is situated on a long flat plain, with a small river passing through halfway center of it, with the city right next to the ocean. The view of the ocean from the docks, especially in the morning when the sun rises, as been described as one of the most beautiful sights a living being can experience in their life time, with many people visiting the city simply for its views.

Natural Resources

The city has a large forest neighboring a distant away from it that supplies timber, along with some mines to the south that help supply stone and precious materials. Farms reach a long way around the city, and also have many farm animals to support the local population, but it also being fed by the halfling farmers to the north west of the city.
