Multi-Classing in The Godwar | World Anvil

Multi-Classing

While there is no true "Multi-Classing" in a classic D&D sense (ie. leveling multiple classes at once), there is a system in our game where a PC or NPC may end one career, and begin a new one during the course of play. The rules and restrictions are as follows...       1. You must be a minimum of Level 3 in your current O.C.C. to begin a career in a new O.C.C.   2. Training requirements, statistic requirements, Time investments, Special Instructors, etc. may all be needed before the process can begin. This will vary by O.C.C., consult the O.C.C. listing and the DM.   3. Once the Player has selected a new O.C.C., met it's pre-requisites and obtained GM approval, the process begins. The character becomes a Level 0 Apprentice of the new O.C.C. All XP totals are set to 0   4. All skills of the previous O.C.C. are retained, but will no longer advance on level up, unless they are also class skills for the new O.C.C. Hand to Hand skills are cumulative from class to class.   5. Class abilities of the previous O.C.C. are retained at their current level of power, but no longer advance on level ups. In rare cases, powers may be lost by leaving the O.C.C., but the DM will inform you in such instances.   6. No powers or skills of the new O.C.C. are gained during the Level 0 Apprenticeship.   7. To end the Apprenticeship and advance to Level 1, the Player must earn an amount of XP equal to that needed to advance to Level 3 in the new O.C.C. plus 1,000 XP. If the new O.C.C. is Magical or Psionic, the cost is increased to XP needed for Level 5 plus 1,000 XP.  Then add +2,000 XP for each previous O.C.C. held by the character, not including the new one unless it was previously held by the character.  This will arrive at the needed XP Threshold of the Apprenticeship.   8. Once this threshold of XP is reached, the character becomes Level 1 in the new O.C.C. and gains all applicable skills, abilities and powers. Reset XP to 0.   9. If the character is multi-classing into an O.C.C. they already have levels in, at the conclusion of the Apprenticeship the character assumes their previous level at it's lowest possible amount of XP.   10. The character now levels normally.
