Urugash the Demi-Brain

Urugash began its life as a human male named Balurus. Balurus was a shepherd wandering the wastelands to the south of Beldam when he and his flock encountered a horrifying sight. A large, round metallic object had crashed into the pasture. The shipped glowed with an eerie yellow sheen and emitted a low pitched hum that made Balurus feel sick. The object was in the shape of a bell and bore strange pictographs along its rim. Balurus left his herd and slowly approached the object.   When he drew close, the bell shaped object began to rise and spin horizontally. Colored lights shone from around its metallic and glossy surface. It appeared that the ship was attempting to rise into the air, but soon it fell and all lights, hum, and activity ceased. An opening became visible as the top of the bell flipped open. Balurus climbed its side and peered into the object. Inside he saw a large brain, about the size of a small wagon wheel, throbbing and pulsing. Balurus clutched his head in his hands in agony as he felt a tremendous headache.   Soon, the brain began to launch gooey, squishy tentacles from its surface, one of which penetrated Balurus' skull through his nostril. Slowly the brain began to crawl through his nose and he felt his skull melt and expand. Balurus looked down and saw his limbs and body atrophy until he was the size of a small child. His skull however, continued to grow.   Balurus was now forever changed. He realized quickly that he was fighting for his mind with an alien creature. "Urugash is my name. I am now your overlord!" Balurus was almost gone entirely. He found himself relegated to a quiet, mousey voice, largely ignored by the monstrous intellect that had invaded his body.   Urugash said one more thing to Balurus, before terminating his communication with the shepherd, seemingly forever, "I am Urugash. Urugash is my name. I have come to prepare your world for the Others. The Dark Realm approaches!" Urugash was now on Beldam, he rose from the craft, hovering over the land, and began seeking his new homestead where he would prepare for the arrival of the Others. In the meantime, however, Urugash, will influence and manipulate events and key individuals throughout Beldam, telepathically, as he slow prepares the way for the unknown invaders from the Dark Realm.
