The Ghoul School (Formerly The Gemmingtown Minor Cathedral)

The Ghoul School is located in the basement of the charred ruins of The Gemmingtown Minor Cathedral. Over two hundred years ago, an incident took place that result in the cathedral being burned to the grown, leaving only the lower levels underground and the catacombs intact. A scientist named Dante Boddinger had created a creature from newly interred body parts found in the church catacombs as well as select monsters he had hunted in the Grief-Stricken forest. The creature was a kind of chimera or hybrid that contained the torso of a particularly nasty orc chieftain, the limbs of an ogre, the hands and feet of a troll, the tail of a dragonoid, wings of a giant bat, and lastly, the brain of a renowned Human warrior, Thadius Marveau.   The creature had been blamed inaccurately for the murder of it's creator and several deaths at a Gemmingtown festival. A mob was formed and the creature fled to the church where it's brain was removed months earlier from Marveau's crypt in the catacombs below. The mob set the church on fire and the creature was never seen again. The church then lay abandoned and presumed cursed for a hundred years.   The founding class of the Ghemmingtown Ghoulies, known now as the 'Ghoul Pool," began meeting regularly in the Doubtful Hill Cemetery and the infamously haunted Maggot Mansion roughly 200 years ago. The club grew from 13 to 30 in 24 months and decided a more permanent 'lodge' would be needed. The cursed, forgotten, and haunted Gemminton Minor Cathedral, had replaced by the larger and more ornate Gemmington Secondary Minor Cathedral. Once the burned church was de-sanctified by bishops sent by the 'Grand Vox,' the property was sold. The Gemmingtown Ghoulies, funded by their members, purchased the land and declared it the "Ghoul School."   The Ghoul School is not in fact a school, but more of a lodge. Ceremonies and rituals are performed there. The building also serves as the museum, laboratory, library, and event hall for the Ghoulies. Current and former members often use the Ghoul School for funerals, parties, lectures, conventions, and weddings.   The Ghoul School consists of three levels found below the ruins of the church. The first level is accessible by opening heavy stone doors in the floor located behind the ruined altar via a specialized spell only members know the key to. This spell is changed on a regular basis. The first floor is reached via stone stairs that descend about 10' below ground. It contains many rooms ranging from small (12'x9') to medium (17'x20'). These rooms are used as offices, meeting rooms, and archives. The only decoration is a large painting of Howard Poe, hanging in the presidents ('Ghoul Fool's') office.   The second level is accessible from two opposite stone staircases that descend approximately 15'. The second level contains mostly medium sized rooms and houses the library, museum (known as the "Ghouls Tools"), and the laboratories. There is one very large space used for meetings, lectures, and a convention hall along with several medium spaces, carved out by the Ghoulies over the years.   The lowest level still contains the church's original catacombs. They are considered by the Ghoulies as "revered ground." There is an old chapel at the end of the catacombs, decorated with the skulls and bones of unclaimed or unidentified persons. This chapel is used for the most secret and important of Ghoulie rites and ceremonies. The tombs of the catacombs are considered off-limits by any living persons and treated with the highest respect.
