Legends of the Golden One

These are relevant entries from the religion of the Namloshan species, the Orthodoxy of the Holy Gold, and the religion of the Ukala, the Canticles of the Golden One:   From The Book of the Risen, holy text of the Orthodoxy of the Holy Gold:   And lo, the worship of the Holy Gold grew decadent, and the people stopped hearing its words. So, the Holy Gold sang a song of sadness and hope, yet none heard its words or its song.   But one, a child, heard the song of the Holy Gold and came nigh. With each lyric of sadness, he grew older until he was aged, but with each lyric of hope, he grew younger until he was a young and hale child again. He entered the Great Temple in the Holy City of _________, but no guard or priest barred his way, for they did not see him.   In the presence of the Holy Gold, the child wept with both joy and sadness, for though he was in the presence of the god, the child saw how the people had stopped believing in its message.   “What can I do to return belief to the people?” begged the child.   “Take me from this place and far into the mountains,” replied the Holy Gold, “There I will ascend, and become a legend that the people can choose: forget, or remember. And if they remember, they will return to my worship, and I shall change their world.”   And so, the child did as the Holy Gold bid, and took the deity high into the mountains, where it ascended unto Heaven. And there came a terrible quake, and the Great Temple in the Holy City crumbled and fell into rubble. And the people lamented the loss of their god, and repented.   “What can we do?” cried the people. And the child came among them, singing the mighty song of the Holy Gold.   “Weep and fear no longer,” the child proclaimed, “for though the Holy Gold has ascended unto Heaven, our faith shall make him return. Let us hear our god again, and honor him until the Holy God’s return!”   And so it was then, and so it has always been.
From the Seventeenth Canticle of the Golden One -   We were of many tribes, but the Golden One showed us we were one tribe.   In the Time of Great Yiffing, Lokas the Traveler was made Guardian of the One. Young and hale, Lokas did not settle, but wandered to all tribes and showed them the Way of the One. Some were angered by this and wished to fight, but always Lokas laughed and said he had not the time for fighting, and instead smacked them with his thoughts and words. Many times did he tell a foe that he had accepted coitus from his foe’s mother, and mocked his foe with rude bodily noises and descriptions of their inferior sexual organs. None could withstand the Smack he talked, as all tribes came to call such taunts.   Many of the young of the tribes followed his tradition, and the Smack Wars began in earnest. Yet after many battles, Lokas brought all the most renowned Smack Masters together in one place, where a Great Smacking was laid down, and by the Wisdom of the One, Lokas brought all low with his Smacking Down.   Thus, did the young of all tribes come together and learned the traditions of the One, and returned to their homes with their eyes opened. And Lokas continued to wander with the Golden One to all tribes, until the Burden of the One grew heavy and his time to pass the god on to the next Guardian came.   We were of many tribes, but the Golden One showed us we were one tribe.
