Kirska Corporation

When firebrand reformers talk about the amoral excesses of faceless corporations that place profit over principals and morals, the example most often used is Kirska Corporation.  A company with its fingers in every conceivable business, good or service in the galaxy, Kirska lives up their motto of being everywhere... and typically making a profit no matter who gets hurt in the process.

Culture

Kirska is widely known as a successful, if unscrupulous, corporation. Illegal and unethical revenue-generating practices are tolerated, sometimes encouraged, by its corporate officers so long as the flow of credits is uninterrupted and word does not leak out. Likewise, the politics of its customers are overlooked for the sake of lucrative markets.   Kirska is known for being able to negotiate trade agreements with the Myrr Confederation and other independent worlds, crossing political borders with impunity to generate staggering profits. They are also known for their amoral attitude towards amassing profits; one notable example was the purchase (some say theft) of the Gruemor home world of Tyrvash during the years of Republic rule. Despite the company’s perceived lack of scruples, no one can afford to stop doing business with Kirska. Looked upon as unscrupulous opportunists, they have no interest in being kings or kingmakers…just profiting from whoever is in charge.   Its CEO and corporate vice-presidents are important members of the Imperial Merchants Guild, and Kirska’s Regal Chairman, a fat and venal man named Horson Fattal-Kirska, latest in the lineage of the original founding family, is a Merchant Baron and simultaneously a Viscount in the Celestial Court. Viscount Horson, despite his Kirska title, reportedly has no authority within the corporation, but exists as a figurehead only.

Assets

The corporation owns multiple star systems and employs several billion individuals throughout the galaxy.

History

Originally founded as Kirska Mining and Industrial, this centuries-old, galaxy-spanning corporation has diversified into businesses ranging from consumer food products to military weapons. It is one of the wealthiest and most successful economic enterprises in operation, conducting commerce on virtually every civilized planet.    One of their most controversial moves was purchasing entire planets from indigenous populations to exploit their resources.  One of their first, and most infamous, such purchases was the Gruemor home world of Tyrvash.  Given that the planet is still tied up in the longest lasting lawsuit ever, Kirska moved away from such schemes... for now.
