Colony of Kehl
The colony of Kehl is perhaps the most well defended one in the Frontier – it has sturdy red-brick walls and even a few towers. Despite that, or even because of it, it is also the most frequently attacked and raided one. The beast folk hate Kehl with a passion and rarely does a month go by without some kind of raid or attack.
Kehl is a steadfast colony of the Red Veil Kingdom. Without their frequent supply ships full of soldiers and food, Kehl may have fallen long ago.
Government
Kehl is run by a a governor who is appointed by the Monarch of Red Veil. Major policies and decisions must always be approved by the Red Veil monarch, but otherwise the governor is free to run Kehl as they see fit.
As of autumn 1060, the current governor is Acano Porazzi after Alaus va Supino stepped aside to become a hostage as per the The Kehl-Twisthorn Peace Cooperation Treaty.
Industry & Trade
Imports: Food, weapons, and stone.
Exports: Frontier treasures, pelts and lumber.
Infrastructure
Hornbreaker Wall
The dominating structure in Kehl is the 25 metre redstone wall that encloses the town. It is routinely repaired, expanded and upgraded. Hornbreaker Wall has only two portcullises. The stone of the wall is a patchwork of different stone types and colors.
Interior Farms
A large portion of Kehl is made up from gardens and small farms within the town itself. They grow wheat, apples, potatoes and carrots.
Grace River
This artificial river is pumped through the walls of the town and dissects it in two. It provides fresh water from a below ground spring that feeds the farms. The location to this spring is top secret. It also pushes several watermills.
Wild Lilly Market
The only market in this town lies in the only plaza. It was named after the beautiful blue wild lilies that once grew in that area of the colony, which now line the plaza in vases and wooden planters.
The King's Bouquet
A cosy tavern in the Wild Lilly Market.
North Gate
This gate is the most frequently attacked, and as such it is manned by archers with murder holes, pipes for hot pitch, and the exterior is a sea of sharpened barricades.
Gone Harbour & The South Gate
The south gate leads to the Gone Harbour. The Gone Harbour is frequently raided and burned down. The stone piers are able to be detached from their moorings and drift in the shallow waters, so that the beastfolk raiders are unable to fully destroy them. Buildings here are temporary in anticipation of being destroyed.
Cubbies
A series of interlinked underground caves that citizens flee to when under siege or being raided. Grace River also funnels fresh water there, and crab and lobsters are easily caught there.
