Type E "Hot Shot" Power Cell

Similar in size and shape to the standard sized Type A Power Cell, used as the standard handheld power battery for nearly all current technology, the Type E Power Cell is a purpose built power cell for use in direct energy weapons as a way to increase their killing power. When slotted into a direct energy weapon the power cell effectively doubles the charge of each shot made from that weapon without sacrificing ammo capacity. This has been compared to equipping a projectile firearm with armour piercing ammunition but this is an inaccurate analogy as armour piecing rounds deliver less damage you unarmoured targets due to the rounds not deforming as much when passing through soft tissue, while the "Hot Shot" round is doubly effective on soft tissue as it is on armour targets. A more accurate comparison between the two would be the idea of firing a larger caliber round from a ballistic weapon.
The cost of such power is an increase in the cell's price point and an need for weapon maintenance more frequently due to the cell burning out the weapon's components faster.
