Enoclian

Enoclians are a sentient bipedal species native to the planet of Ermina VI. They appear as tall furred creatures reminiscent of Old Earth canines, with glowing fur patterns.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Enoclians are bipedal, with two legs and two pairs of forelimbs, one primary and one vestigial. A long furry tail, that splits into two a third of the way down, helps to offset the torso heavy build common to the species.

A significant portion (approximately 20-30%) of the species lacks the vestigial limbs as they are no longer used in a widely used role in the species survival.

A quirk of the species is the wide variety of blood colouration due to the unique characteristics of their "red" blood cells, which phosphor when they absorb UV light. Patches of fur on the Enoclian body have a crystalline matrix that will transfer the blood glow from the root throughout the patch, giving a form of bioluminescence.

Genetics and Reproduction

Enoclians reproduce in much the same way that mammals of the canid species do. Litters range from between 5 and 10 pups and have a high attrition rate due to the large population of apex predators that call Ermina VI their home. Females will gestate their young internally for approximately 8 months and give birth to fully developed young capable of independent movement after several standard hours.

Growth Rate & Stages

Enoclians reach physical maturity after approximately 18 standard years.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Enoclians are omnivores but have a high propensity for meat protein, which can make up upwards of 65% of their diet.

Behaviour

As a species from a feral world noted for its many hostile predators, Enoclians can be characterized as aggressive and wary on the whole. As with other sentient species they can vary greatly from individual to individual.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

Enoclians have an intelligence comparable to prehistoric humans and seem capable of learning about modern technology when supplied with it.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Enoclian senses are slightly higher than Terran baseline in terms of hearing and smell. Because of the abundance of bioluminescence on their planet their ability to see in low-light conditions is limited.

Being native to a feral world, Enoclians have physiques conducive to survival on a world where they are both hunter and prey. Males tend towards bulkier, muscular builds with wide shoulders that gives them the appearance of being top heavy. Females have a more balanced figure, though their hips and thighs are noticeably more robust that the males.
