The Endless Rift

Beyond the edges of the portals that are pathways between the Realms, lies the endless void. It exists beyond the reach of most Muses and is said to be the culmination of all magic and Muse that has ever been, ever was, and shall ever be. It is made of magic beyond that which is naturally found in the worlds. The Endless Rift is where all magic that flows from the world comes from. Worlds are all drenched in the magic of the Endless Rift but some worlds are given more protection than others, rending the inhabitants of the more protected worlds less likely to be imbued with magic and harness its power. The Endless Rift can only be seen by those who have reached the highest forms of magic and can harness the very power around them to focus it at just the right intensity to see into the Rift. Only those with a mastery of both order and chaos, magic and anti-magic can truly touch and control the Endless Rift. For most others, the Endless Rift is an array of colors that one can see as they traverse though between the Realms. They are shielded from it by the pathways. It does not move one through space but though magic itself, past the shields around the other Realms. It is said that all who pass from this life will come to this place. Some believe that only Muses will survive and that seems to be the case. What existence in the Endless Rift is like is also unknown as the one ruling law over all who are brought back from the Rift is that "the Rift is not spoken of." What little is know of the Rift is what those who have ventured to it during their life have experienced and even that knowledge has either been lost or locked away. Type Wormhole
