The Black Bear

In the dawn of the age of Murk City, it was nothing but a barren wasteland known as the Murk Lands. Once the Legion of Order were convinced to provide the denizens a livable environment with which the grow, it instead became a full but lawless wasteland. Denizens formed factions, and kidnapped and enslaved Muses and non-Muses alike who could work the land and provide for them. War was a constant and the land was ravaged by the aftermath of battles between Muses that scorched the earth around them. For many decades, the denizens lived in constant struggle with each other for the meager resources and many died in the pursuit of survival. The Black Bear, reclusive from the others, saw this carnage and decided it was a waste of the potential of the realm it and the people would be trapped in for an indefinite time. Thus, it emerged from its isolation and struck against the denizens. It exerted control over them and directed them build and unite. Even the most reluctant were not strong enough to resist the Black bear and soon Murk City was established. As the city grew and the people fell into an uneasy but consistent habit of cooperation and development, the Black Bear retreated back into its seclusion. But not without keeping its finger to the pulse of the city. It remained a watchful eye and those in the city revered and feared it. Soon, the Red Guard grew from the most loyal of followers and acted as enforcers and tyrants over the land, all in pursuit of the power for the Black Bear. The Black Bear accepted these conditions, understanding that this was necessary to prevent the city from falling into true darkness which would require it to use its might against them again. Instead, it locked itself away in its manor, sending out occasional directives but overall remaining nothing ut a distant but every present leader over Murk City. Some even called it the Legionnaire of Chaos in this dismal place.
