Scorched Chain
A Scorched Chain is light but durable chain of metal that is typically worn around the wrist or neck as jewelry. To most people, it simply looks like a lackluster accessory for people who cannot otherwise afford more expensive and extravagant. However, the bracelet was originally designed and crafted by Otano using his superior smiting skills combined with his power over Scorch. He created this bracelet for himself first as a reminder of what [Micah] did to his friends in the Wildlands. However, once his mother sent him to Metisiot to "aid" the Legion of Chaos, Otano encountered some like-minded Metisians who had grown tired of being led by Muses, especially since the Muses were all from outside Metisiot. Scorched Chains can be made of any metal but iron is preferred since it is the easiest to shape and the least conspicuous. Otano crafts the bracelets in his spare time and distributes to them to his followers. They try to keep low profiles since they do not want the Muses to become aware of them. he eventually begins teaching others how to craft the metal after he is given "permission" to begin teaching the Metisians how to harness Scorch. Crafting Scorched Chain later becomes a common practice of training before being able to craft Scorched Armor. The Scorched Chains do not have any effect on the Metisians who wear it. If the Scorched Chain is worn by a Muse, they will have some difficulty casting spells. If worn on the wrist, they will need to expend more magic to use magic with that hand. If around the neck, they will have difficulty casting spells in general. This crafting mechanic would later be used by Otano to craft Scorched Armor. Significance Signifies when someone is supportive of Otano's goal to squelch all magic.
