Magical Reliance

One of the first things Kumari noticed about the Realms is their complete lack of technological advancements. The time seemed to be stuck in the dark ages despite being the relative same age as Gaia. After some time, she realized that this was mainly due to the heavy reliance on magic across the realms. Most travel needs were resolved by teleportation, animals, or other magical means of teleportation. There was never a need to develop weapons when Muses were the most powerful weapons. While it seemed to Kumari that the Metisians would have something since they were not magic users, the Muses hindered their development intentionally to avoid them gaining too much power. Other realms suffered from the same type of stagnation, some, Kumari believed, was encouraged by the Legion of Order who wanted to maintain balance and peace. The Swifs focus on hedonistic pursuits and magic so they spent little time working on technological advancements. The Inerts were not given access to anything technological and they must spent their time simply surviving and trying to free themselves from the Muses. The Zamars have had some instances of technological advancements due to their rich resources in metals and minerals but the Councils of Zamaris determined that the technology would result in lazy Zamars and would hinder their work ethic and oppressed any Zamar that sought to increase productivity. Wildlings were in the midst of discovering some technologies but progress was hindered by the Legion of Chaos taking up residence in the Obsidian Castle and causing issues with the natural environment that resulted in tensions among the tribes. Nightfall has no need for technology since the have their Library and telekinesis, Murk City has the opportunity but with the rampant crime and strife, few people who make technology are able to survive long enough to proliferate it.
