Inert Smugglers

The safest place for an Inert to be is within the walls of the Swif settlement where they work for the Muse Swifs. However, once their shift is over, the Inerts are sent away into the forest to live in their small hamlets on the outside of the wall. There they are the first line of prey for the creatures that wander in the dark of the forest of Eolilgeten. Some Inerts try and escape into the forest to avoid returning to their jobs as servants. They often figure they would rather be free than a slave. However, many of them are recaptured or return after facing the dangers found in the forest. Inert Smugglers are Inerts who have lived in the forest and learned how to navigate and live in the trees. They know the secrets to facing the different predators in the forest and know which herbs and plants can be sued to their advantage. They aid Inerts either in trying to flee or in finding ways to sneak back into the settlement. They offer the Inerts shelter and pathways to travel away from their settlements. Inert smugglers have developed special tools that allow them to traverse the trees. The plants they use can knock out the unwary Muse and they use those herbs to their advantage. They can also hunt and take down the large predators in the forest, even the Nocturne Giants. Inert Smugglers were once simply considered nuisances but as more Inerts began to escape and the Swifs were running out of Inerts to do their manual labor, the Councils began to cracking down on the Smugglers and stopping their interference. Swifs increased patrols by loyal Inters, offering better food and accommodations to those who help apprehend Inert smugglers. This has often led to clashes between the Inert Smugglers and the Inerts and Muses that live in the settlements.
