Strix Species in The Fourth Age of Tel | World Anvil

Strix

Found in the warm swamps and marshes of Tel, the strix (Aeriscan: striga) is a predatory flying creature that hunts warm-blooded creatures and feeds through exsanguination. A strix is a morphological chimera, resembling a bat crossed with an owl and a blood-sucking insect with a long and sharp proboscis. The strange morphology of the strix suggests that it is perhaps a creation of Third Age magical experimentation, as opposed to having natural origins. Striges are approximately 1 foot in length with a wingspan of 2 feet. Like the blood that they feed upon, striges can range from a dark, rusty red to a reddish ochre color.
