Gonorrhoea

Concerning Gonorrhoea, the Malady of Unheedful Lust

Gonorrhoea, being born of unclean acts, is a scourge upon he who forsakes Ator's Law and lieth with a woman during the improper time. It is a malady of the choleric humor, inflamed and disordered by illicit unions, and bringeth with it pain, defilement, and the destruction of the generative faculties. Let this account serve as both a warning to the foolish and a guide to the learned, that they may understand the causes, signs, and remedies of this dreadful affliction, and through the wisdom bestowed by Maya, the merciful Mother, and her blessed son Lamus Sanator, the healer of ills, bring aid unto the afflicted and turn them from the paths of ruin.

Causes

Gonorrhoea, a grievous malady of the privy parts, is engendered by unclean and immoderate acts of carnal union, particularly with women defiled by the impurity of their monthly courses. It is a disease born of uncleanness and vice, and its root lieth in the corruption of the choleric humor, which is inflamed and disordered by such iniquitous unions. Adventurers and mercenaries, being oft reckless in their indulgences and lusts, are much afflicted with this sickness, for they squander their hard-won plunder in the baths and brothels, giving no heed to the virtue or cleanliness of their companions.

Symptoms

The malady manifesteth itself by many distressing signs. First and foremost is a searing pain during the passing of water, for which the unlearned call it the Burning Piss. This torment is accompanied by a bloody and foul-smelling discharge from the male organ, an outward sign of the inward corruption. The afflicted may also suffer from an excessive itching and rash about the privy parts, a token of the humours' fiery agitation. If the disease be not swiftly treated, it doth advance to the febris actua and debilitation. In its final stages, it consumeth the generative faculty, bringing sterility and impotence unto the afflicted, who is rendered as barren as the Senu Desert.

Treatment

The treatment of Gonorrhoea is both arduous and delicate, requiring great skill and fortitude from both physician and patient. The most renowned remedy among the learned physician is a direct injection into the urethra of a medicament composed of petroselinum, oleum rosae, oleum violae, and lac almae matris, the same being a balm to soothe the choleric inflammation and restore balance unto the humors. This procedure, though painful, is esteemed necessary for the purging of the corrupted matter from the afflicted parts.

In addition to the injection, the patient must abstain from all carnal acts, for the further stirring of the humors doth but exacerbate the malady. He is to avoid strong wines, pungent spices, and all heating foods, for these increase the fire of choler. Instead, he must partake of cooling and moistening sustenance, such as barley water, lettuce, and boiled lentils. Frequent baths in tepid water infused with soothing herbs, such as chamaemelon and malva, are also recommended, for they temper the fiery humors and cleanse the outward parts.

Prognosis

The prognosis of Gonorrhoea dependeth much upon the swiftness of its treatment and the constitution of the afflicted. If the disease be caught in its earliest stages and the remedies diligently applied, there is hope of recovery, though the process be slow and oft marked by great discomfort. Yet if the malady be neglected or the patient persisteth in his vices, it taketh deep root within the body, corrupting the humors and undermining the vital faculties. In such cases, the afflicted is doomed to lingering suffering, and the disease doth render him impotent and barren, a living warning unto others who would follow in his licentious ways.

Thus let all who hear these words take heed and shun the paths of uncleanness and vice, for the pleasures of the flesh are fleeting, but the torment of disease is long and grievous. Let them instead keep their bodies pure and their lives virtuous, calling upon the merciful Maya and her son Lamus Sanator, that they may guide them in the ways of health and righteousness, and deliver them from the snares of warti.
