Magus

The highest acheivable ranking within the Supreme Council of Mages. There is a Magus corresponding to each school of magic, with each Magus being the most powerful wizard of that discipline known to the world.

Qualifications

Complete mastery of one's school of magic, to the extent of being able to cast the highest level spells in the school multiple times without issue and maintain multiple effects requiring concentration simultaneously. These requirements are in addition to those specificed in the appointment stipulations.

Appointment

A new magus is appointed only by majority vote of each of the current Magus. Being that there is only one, appointments are made only when the existing Magus of a discipline either resigns or dies.
Alternatively, a Master wizard may challenge the Magus of their school and attempt to usurp their title. This can also be accomplished by demonstrating an immense disparity of ability, the display of which will be voted on by the Council's other Magus.

Duties

It is the duty of a Magus to prevent the world from falling into disarray. The precise definition of disarray and what qualifies as disarray are defined by the council at meetings where it is relevant to do so.

Responsibilities

A Magus is charged with teaching all those below them in rank, voting to determine the will of the Council and executing the will of the council to the best of their ability.

Benefits

The Supreme Council of Mages is made up of the Magus, and as such they hold all the benefits of belonging to it.

Accoutrements & Equipment

All Magus are adorned with Magus Robes and gain all of the benefits of wearing them.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A Magus may be removed by a majority vote of the Council at any time, without warning, and for any reason.
