Alignment

Unlike in Dungeons & Dragons, alignment in the world of The Courts revolves around elemental alignment. There are five alignments a character may have - Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Void. Of the five, Void is exceedingly rare, an ill omen for those born under this sign. All inhabitants of the Courts know what sign they are born under - it is like a horoscrope drawn on the day the were born. There is nothing they can do to change it. A soul that is born under Fire will always be Fire-aligned, regardless of how many reincarnations it goes through. People will judge others according to the element they were born under, drawing conclusions about said person. It is a regular topic of conversation and openly discussed.
The alignments are:
• Fire (Tejas)

Direction: South.

Associations: Anger, Will, Passion, Lust, Destruction, Desire, Purification, Protection, Strength.

Colours: Red, Orange, Gold, Yellow

• Air (Vayu)

Direction: North

Associations: Thought, mental power, communication, travel, intellect, abstract thinking, teaching, divination, freedom, happiness, laughter, beginnings.

Colours: Blue, Pastels.

• Water (Apas)

Direction: West.

Associations: Emotions, dreams, compassion, love, sadness, healing, rest, cleansing, dissolution, rebirth.

Colours: Green, Silver, Purple

• Earth (Prithivi)

Direction: East.

Associations: Stability, prosperity, food, money , wealth, crops, animals, home, mountains, strength, grounding, protection.

Colours: Brown, Black, Green
