Disaster / Destruction
The town of Greenest is under attack. Our adventurers must save the town and prove themselves heroes.
The story so far... In the Caravan City of Scornubel our adventuring party is tasked with escorting a wagon of goods with an elven trader to the small city of Greenest. Upon their arrival, they are greeted with a grizzly scene. As they crested the final hill, they could see down below the town of Greenest aflame. They had to quickly decide their next course of action as a dragon divebombed the city raining lightning from above. Our heroes quickly took arms to help the innocents of the city. Here we meet the adventuring party: Alistair Natu: or Ali for short. A human wild magic sorcerer with a penchant for causing damage. Kull Thorin: A dwarven barbarian whose spirit is as fiery as his bright red afro Niklaus: A human wizard with a nack for knick knacks and a weak constitution Razial Jin: A paladin that stands out in a crowd with blue-hued skin, red eyes, and shock-white hair. Ku Fonken Fugler: a drunk brawler with military training. The group quickly finds themselves in over their heads as the town is overrun with a mix of kobolds and cultists in dark robes. The group splits up and saves a few civilians as they make their way to the largest structure in the town: A stone keep. The group talks their way in and even manage to catch a pair in cultist robes walking the perimiter of the keep. Escobert, the castellan of the keep, does not seem to trust them but they prove their trustworthiness by turning in the pair of suspected cultists whose names they gather to be Atwolf and Valda but they are able to loose themselves and escape. The group is then met by Governor Nighthill. He is in charge and responsible for the safety of his citizens as many of them were rushed here to the keep. The group offers their help but demands provisions before proving themselves to him. He first charges them with the task of clearing the tunnel beneath the keep, an important but menial task as it will allow the keep access to water and a possible escape route if need be. The group clears the tunnel of rats and moves some crates around and opens the gates on both ends of the tunnel but not without making enough noise to notify some stray cultists. The groups quickly dispatches the invaders but not without taking some damage of their own as Niklaus nearly loses his life. Not long after, they are approached from the rear by an elven man. Glorfindel Melkor: A knight and archer with a cold demeanor from the elven city of Hachiwaxa The group makes their way back to Nighthill to claim their reward and offer their help, as well as a kobold prisoner. The group attempts to waken the knocked out kobold but is unsuccessful and accidentally kill it by stabbing it's hand and letting it bleed out. The next morning the keep is attacked by a raiding party including 2 drakes which the SHITs are able to take care of hastily. Impressed by their actions thusfar, Nighthill asks them to go out into town to check for civilians. The group makes their way out and find a family being attacked by kobolds. They are joined by a pair of adventurers looking for their friend who was lost in the melee. Roli the half-orc barbarian and Rascal the halfling rogue were searching for Dak their goliath friend. As the groups work together to help the family, a kobold magically charms Ali and he does what he can to save the kobolds life as Razial questions it. After getting his answers, Razial snaps it's neck and Ali is thrust into despair before the spell breaks and he realizes he didn't actually care. It seemed there was a woman in a purple robe in charge of the seige and the attackers main goal is to cause chaos(which may just be a distraction) as well as take any treasure. The party christens themselves as the Super High Intensity Team and along with their new friends and survivors make their way back to the keep to find Nighthill with Dak. The group attempts some shenanigans as Ku attempts to steal alcohol unsuccessfully and Roli, Dak, and Rascal try to get away with anything of value from Nighthills quarters. Just as things look at their worst for the party, it suddenly does get worse. The alarms go off and the keep is attacked by an adult blue dragon, the very same one they had seen the night before. The dragon unleashes it's lightning breath and kills many soldiers but it all seems a distraction as the gates are also swarmed by a party including flying kobolds which Ku rides into a kamikaze blitz. The group fights for their lives as the dragon departs but not without a fresh scar from a javelin by Kull. They take care of the last drake and through the commotion notice a flash of purple robes in the distance. They decided to investigate. They are led to a farmhouse and with their suspicion guiding them decide to be cautious. Ku attempts to unsuccessfully infiltrate the home as half of his party simply approaches the front door and knocks. Roli, Dak, and Rascal having the more aggressive approach are threatened by Fin to calm down before Kull talks their way in. They meet Nesim, an injured monk whose mentor Leosin is missing. Fin using the distraction from Kull as an opportunity to search the home. He finds a study with many of the same markings of those of the dragon cult as well as some scared citizens in the basement. While this was happening, the rest of the group noticed cultists approaching the city. They follow them to an abandoned apothecary only to find that the cultists are no where to be found. The three companions decide to part ways with the group and get the hell out of dodge. The party did also manage to find a house with a hidden compartment containing the robes and dagger of a cultist. The group decided to hold up in a tavern/inn where Ku was finally able to get his hands on some alcohol. They notice the cultists kept making rounds throughout the city, as if they werelooking for something so they decided to plan an ambush. The party attacked a group of cultists and then was challenged by their champion. A massive half-dragon stepped forth and offered up 6 hostages if he could be beaten. Ku accepts and attempts to take down the half-dragon while his party gets into position to save the hostages. They were able save 4 and survive the melee before returning to the keep. They were barely able to catch their breath before a watchmen warned of an attack on the Mill and the Cathedral. The party was going to split up but decided against it seeing what they were up against. They made the decision to head towards cathedral. There they fought some raiders and a giant bull while saving a dozen civilians. Razial showed off a new ability and sprouted wings to fight a flying foe in the air. Afterwards the party searched the grounds and finds a group of totem animal statues and an entrance to an underground cave beneath the church along with an arcane circle and some shrines where they are given boons by the elemental forces there. They decided to return to the keep to share their discoveries with Nighthill and ask about any other underground tunnels. They discover one under a shop and follow it to a raider camp. Here they found some civilians being imprisoned and saved them only to find the monk Leosin Erlanthar of the Harpers, among them. He had willingly given himself over in order to save Nesim as well as hopefully find out more of the cult's plans. Leosin divulges that beyond all the loot that had been sacked from the town, the cultists had been working on a hatchery and a way to access it from Greenest. This brought to mind the teleportation circle and the group went in to investigate. . Here the group discovered a dungeon with acid pits and dragon eggs as well as the cultist in purple robes, Frulam Mondath. The group fought their way through, cleared the dungeon and found themselves in care of a black dragon egg. They also found a journal detailing information in draconic which is to be translated slowly by Fin. With the seige seemingly broken the party returned to Nighthill to deliver the good news and found him working to evacuate the town fearing further attacks from dragons. As citizens prepared to leave a dramatic scene played out as a dwarven man discovered his wife was an undercover cultist before she killed herself. Leosin was impressed with what the party managed to accomplish asked them to meet him a tavern called "a pair of black antlers" in the city of Elturel and provided them with horses and a wagon. He was lookin to recruit an old colleague by the name of Ontharr Frume, a member of the order of the gauntlet. The party made their way to Elturel and along the way met a tortle druid by the name of Penguin. They fought some bandits but otherwise made their way safely through the town of Berdusk and to the city of Elturel, a city of constant sunlight. Here they found Frume busy celebrating festivities and not in the mood to talk business. The party decided to show Frume they knew how to have a good time and proved they could hang with the best. They earned his favor and met with him and Leosin. Ontharr Frume and Leosin Erlanthar, along with a handful of other concerned leaders and scholars along the Sword Coast, were in the early stages of organizing against the Cult of the Dragon. Leosin of the Harpers and Frume of the Order of the gauntlet each attempt to recruit the party to the organizations. Though the party remained undecided. The top concern of both groups is the Cult of the Dragon. In the past, the cult was more active to the east and it was focused on creating dracoliches. Its shift to the Sword Coast and new emphasis on living dragons and on Tiamat are cause for concern. The party decided to sleep on it and come to a decision in the morning but most of the crew is hungover. Fin, Ali, and Klaus head off to breakfast and find a woman in need of help, Elise. Her brother Ferdinand had gone missing and disappeared into an abandoned manor at the edge of town that was said to be haunted. His so called friends had dared him to enter and he hadn't been seen since. They decided to investigate and make their way into the manor to discover and be attacked by a wardrobe and deadly spirits. Ali accidentally summons a unicorn and they dispatch the ghouls and ghosts with the help of the young girl. The ghosts are found to be the souls of children that had been lured to the house over centuries. They then found a deed to Moorkeep manor.
