Zonian
The Zonian are are a unique ethnicity of Hobgoblins in the northern regions of the Narrow Steppe. The majority of Zonians are members of the Lykordi tribe.
Culture
Birth & Baptismal Rites
Male children are left in the wilderness after birth as a sacrifice to the earth and sky to keep the Zonian strong. A rare few males survive this experience. Those few are destined for greatness. Any Zonian who recognizes that a male is of Zonian birth will expend her life's effort to kill that male as swiftly as possible. They view it as a sacrifice denied to the gods.
Coming of Age Rites
The coming of age ceremony among the Zonian involve the females making their first raid on a hobgoblin tribe to capture males. The males captured in this rite of passage do not survive the experience.
Funerary and Memorial customs
Funeral rites for the Zonian involve huge funeral pyres. Preferably with captured males bound alive within the pyre to serve the fallen warrioress in her afterlife in the great sky.
