Mancer

Mancers spend lifetimes committing the complex and ineffable formulae of Elemental Magicks to mind. This dedication to perfect recollection allows these casters to produce powerful manifestations of their chosen element. They facilitate these effects by becoming a physical conduit to draw mystical energies from their particular elemental plane of Magick. There are physical costs to these arcane expenditures. A Mancer must often expend quantities of their Vitae to cast their spells. If a Mancer overuses their magic, without thought for their own well-being, they may cause themselves irreparable harm.   There are four kinds of Mancer;
  • Geomancer - who command immutable stone to change at their whim.
  • Hydromancer - who master water, other liquids to a lesser extent, and even ice.
  • Aeromancer - who manipulate air with forceful results.
  • Pyromancer - who explosively play with fire.

Career

Qualifications

The main requirement to be a Mancer is to be able to open oneself up as a conduit to one of the elemental planes to draw forth those magicks and manifest them in our world.

Other Benefits

Unparalleled Power

Perception

Social Status

Mancers are held in very high regard, and not a little bit of fear.

Demographics

Only a small fraction of humanity can connect with one of the elemental planes, this of course limits the number of Mancers in the world.

History

From the surviving historical texts (of which there seem to be fewer every year), it is clear that Mancers did not exist in the Old World. The first recorded instance of a Mancer in the Bright Lands was centuries ago in 113 AL. Legend has it that this first Mancer was a Pyromancer, and they burned their birth village off the map.   There are many storied tales of Mancers in the realms of man. Many likely to be true as well.
