Personal history
The illegitimate child of Earl Emilio Cardoso and his maid Moriko Aoki. Raised by Moriko for the first 12 years of his life when he was revealed to be the only child of Emilio Cardoso. His father, not telling anyone this, let Ryu live at the country manor under the guise of a ward. Moriko returned to Yukyo for work when Ryu was 14, knowing that Ryu was safe and sent back money to Ryu. When Emilio passed away when Ryu was 15, in his will it was revealed that Ryu was his only biological child, and granted him the title of Earl, ignoring his wife and her children. Ryu became the Earl and is influential in Adsilian society, his mother returned to live with him in Adsilia.
When he was 13, his father went on a trip to visit gorm, this was one of the only times his father spent time with him. When they arrived, he was taken by gormese culture. When Ryu arrived home, he was promptly reminded how unimportant he actually was. He always sat apart from his family and found friends with the staff. When Ryu's mother returned to Yukyo, 14-year-old Ryu burst into his father's study angry and demanding that he bring his mother back. He began yelling, asking why he hadn't sent him back to Yukyo along with his mother. His father replied, saying he didn't send Ryu away as he was his son, and would Ryu have preferred life with a poor maid in the civil war-torn Yukyo? After this argument, it was found that the outside of the house, specifically around his father's study was engulfed in thorns. Little things like this continued to happen as Ryu got older, house plants overgrowing and the gardens needing constant attention. When Ryu left for the town, the gardens returned to normal. Ryu, of course, had figured out his abilities by this point and spent his spare time attempting to learn how to use them.
