Solas
The Bastion of Solas hides ancient ruins of Cycathidian origin which have been the focus of archaean curiosity seekers for many ages. The grandeur of these structures has led to various attempts at exhumation and restoration throughout the ages, with Solas at various times serving as a fortress and status symbol for empires past such as the Kasbenir.
The Western Forge
Solas is a city of greenish patinas, covered in practical copper works discolored by the harsh saltwater mists of the Ereban Ocean. Massive supplies of metals and metal goods come in off of ships from Mux and Fulkanr, mostly practical naval wares that go into the restoration of ships, but also in the form of consumer goods and weapons. Many Solasians wear complicated and carefully wrought metal objects in their hair and beards, decorating themselves with metal torques and finely wrought local jewellery. The End of The World
These days, Solas is the 'last stop' in the Outer Sea before passing into the Ereban Ocean, the end of the line for sailors and travellers looking for a place to be forgotten. The city is as accomodating to such travellers as any place can be in the time of the Shroud. Unwanted goods are also unloaded enmasse by merchant ships trying to cut their losses, traded for the abundance of ores brought to the city from the north. The resulting piles of unwanted goods creating a dank, expansive maze around the dockyards known as the End of The World.Accusations of Piracy
While Solas itself is perfectly civil as far as Bastions go, the Grand Accord's influence barely touches business at the End of The World. Pirated goods and stolen ships often wind up at the End of The World, and as long as the crew makes an attempt to feign legitimacy and pays port fees, the dockmasters don't look too hard.Beyond the Accord
While Solas has a treaty with the Grand Accord and is technically subject to Accord Law, there are no Grand Accord academies or colleges. Between the rugged coastline and the harsh mountains, Solas is mostly shielde from the ravages of the Fall and extremely difficult to invade, its ancient walls kept up just well enough for the district guards to patrol them. Children or adults with innate magical talents are considered relatively normal, roaming around
