"What did freedom give us? The Great War? The Fall? In our time, tyranny is a bosom." - Imor Bara, First Grand Master of Korahan
Safety Through Control
The Grand Accord is a governing body made of various synods,
Schools, courts and guilds established to prevent the blood wars and strife of the @Age of Burning Bodies. It has three main branches of government, the
Elder Polis, The
Divine Primacy and the
Novumvirate, all headquartered in the central region of
Krenos. The Accord does not legitimize any rule beyond that of individual
Bastions, despite this clear geographical powerblocs exist beyond the Accord such as the Mach, Hameen and Lugal.
The Grand Accord is by its nature a fascist totalitarian government with the tightest of grips. Overcrowding, food scarcity and political instability is commonplace in the bastions, and the Accord carefully manages concerns that range from trivial business such as procuring food and water to emergent dangers such as emanations or supernatural horrors. In a world where the dead are restless and god-like beings corrupt the minds of men, the most extreme forms of control are considered normal. The Grand Accord attempts to achieve this with a strict heirarchy of officials set out by the books of
Keidon.
Measures of Control
The Accord's three bodies of government are further composed of various
Synods, Chambers (organization) and
Schools. These in turn are overseen by government officials of various types. Within the Polis are the Kalos who oversee the Courts, within the Primacy are the Primarchs who oversee the Temples, and within the Collegiates are the Masters who oversee the Schools. These structures and the numbers within then are defined in the Book of the Bastion. While originally these figures were represented as absolute authorities, these rulers now sit on a council who 'advise' the local elected leaders of the bastion. The total number of these officials usually numbers approximately 39 per bastion.
