Hyadian

The Hyadians are the remnants of Alarans of old who once lived in the Hyades, a group of islands and ismuths on the north coast of the Weaver Sea. Their society have persisted in one form or another since the Cassildan Betrayal Interregnum. Thought to operate out of the their ancestral lands they ply massive barge-like ships through the equally vast inlets that lead into the heart of Carcoa and Alara. Once the beurocratic and commercial center of Alara, the society of the Hyades has decayed into ancestral worship and consumption, with Hyadians operating roaming fleets of reavers who prey on coastal and river communities. The few captives that escape Hyadian capture report that the Hyadians seem to have little in the way of culture or society other than worshipping the Deadwind, searching for Deadwind Dust, and fetishizing artifacts of their long lost civilization. The most precious of all such artifacts to the Hyadians appear to be shards of Ebokan, which the Hyadians are believed to use in their immortality rituals.

Deadwind Sorcerers

Those who have successfully fought off the Hyadians or escaped from them report that the Hyadians appear to use necromancy and animism to protect what seem to be fragile coal-black remains, wearing the bones and skin of creatures enslaved by the Deadwind and then coopted by Alaran necromancy to gird their ancient forms. Despite their withered physiology, Hyadians are powerful adversaries that appear to be able to manipulate or even control the Deadwind to some extent.

The Invasion of Nahavir Kantach

While Hyadians are rarely found deep inland, they are known to make unusual treks into the heart of Nahavir Kantach, a former Erd territory which the Hyadians invaded after the Deadwind began to spread into the region. According to explorers who go against the taboo of the Anyhag to explore the Alaran ruins there, the Hyadians are performing strange rituals in the ruins and have excavated significant portions of old Alara. There are persistant rumors that the Hyadians use the Nahavir Kantach to launch scavenging parties as deep as the Kuhkalma Range, perhaps to scavenge the enormous amound of Deadwind Dust that has accumulated there over the centuries.
