Mask Making Ritual
One of the most important rituals in an Elf's life is the crafting of their death mask.
Since ghosts and troubled spirits are an accepted and experienced fact in the Fae Realm, the kin of the deceased do whatever they can to ensure they can pass on peacefully instead of being trapped in the land of the living.
The biggest part of this is the death mask. Their mask is a sacred thing to a Fae. After death the mask is placed on the face of the Fae in order to stop the spirit of the deceased from trying to return to their body.

History
Generation ago tales tell of a time when the Fae, already long lived creatures, did not want to give up their life and some attempted to return to their bodies after death. The slaughtered that occurred after has went down in Fae History.
The returned spirits were no longer meant for their living body and therefore could not connect to their living state. They could not feel, they could not think, but they were still driven by the desires of the body they had shoved themselves back into.
This is not an uncommon thing for a soul returned to a body and is the reason for Necromancers being so highly praised as they can control the ravenous corpses that seek only to eat and maim. But the souls that had forced themselves back into their own bodies had no necromancer holding them back and they attacked entire communities. Their victims in turn felt jilted out of life and attempted to return to their own bodies thus making more revenants.
Fae began doing all they could to cover their dead so that their spirits could not get back in and this eventually evolved into all Fae carrying with them a mask that could be placed over their face after their death. The mask would stop the spirit returning until the body could be disposed on in the appropriate cultural fashion for that Fae.

Execution
The first day after the new student class arrives at Nasrelts they gather in the great hall where they have 3 days without classes to craft and preferably complete a mask. They can bring their own resources or supplies or even a mask already started so long as at the end of the 3 days they have a mask of some kind.
They are free to continue to work on their mask in their free time after the time constraint is over.

Components and tools
The masks can be made from any resource that the Fae wants. The only stipulation is that the mask must be somehow connected to them. They cannot just throw together craft materials and call it done; it has to be meaningful or representative of them.
