Mind Sliver Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Mind Sliver

Psionic attacks are subtle but often devastating. Assailing your opponent's mind is a powerful strategy and often weakens or otherwise incapacitates your foes in impactful ways. All of this hinges in your opponent having a mind in the first place. Certain spells will require a creature have a certain level of intelligence or wisdom or charisma in order to have an effect. These types of spells are not common but some powerful spells do have these requirements so be on the look out.

Effect

You drive a disorienting spike of psychic energy into the mind of one creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on an Intelligence saving throw or take 1d6 psychic damage and subtract 1d4 from the next saving throw it makes before the end of your next turn.

At Higher Levels. This spell’s damage increases by 1d6 when you reach certain levels: 5th level (2d6), 11th level (3d6), and 17th level (4d6).

Side/Secondary Effects

Migraines, vertigo, lapses in memory, disassociation.

Manifestation

While there might be some flair of psychic energy around a caster's or target's head or eyes, this is usually a spell that offers no visible indication like a firebolt or ray of frost. This spell is purely a battle of the mind.
