Mending Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Mending

When someone asks for a Utility Cantrip this is the first or second one that will come to mind. The spell itself is very simple but the uses and nuances are manifold. Each use repairs one break, but so long as you have all parts of the item in a 1 foot cube of space, you can keep casting this spell over and over until the item is whole once more. Let us say that you find a note in the rubbish that has been torn to bits. Simply find as many pieces as you can and put them in a pile and start casting. Piece by piece you will reassemble the note until it can be read again. This is simply one example.

It should be said that there are things this spell simply can't fix. Items that have been burnt have lost some of their original components in the form of heat, light and smoke. These items can't be replaced or easily gathered up and so a burnt object can't be repaired by mending. An item who's tear is larger than 1 cubic foot is likewise not able to be mended. Try not to get bogged down in the minutiae of this spell and do what makes the most sense when it comes to the exact limitations of this spell.

Effect

This spell repairs a single break or tear in an object you touch, such as a broken chain link, two halves of a broken key, a torn cloak, or a leaking wineskin. As long as the break or tear is no larger than 1 foot in any dimension, you mend it, leaving no trace of the former damage.

This spell can physically repair a magic item or construct, but the spell can’t restore magic to such an object.

Manifestation

The overall thrust of the spell is to fix something that was broken. It could happen in a flash of light or a puff of smoke or by rewinding time but so long as the item is repaired, the flavor isn't to important.
