Magic Stone Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Magic Stone

Here is a barely relevant Cantrip that is best suited to situations where magical weapons are rare. Casting spells on three small stones and imbuing them with magical accuracy and damage. If your party needs some form of magical damage that can't be achieved with the items you have at hand then this spell is a last resort option. At lower levels, most enemies will not have resistance to non-magical damage. By middle tier, you and your fellows will have magical damage in the form of spells and usually one or two magical items. By later levels this spell is effectively useless and the damage does not increase with level.

Effect

You touch one to three pebbles and imbue them with magic. You or someone else can make a ranged spell attack with one of the pebbles by throwing it or hurling it with a sling. If thrown, it has a range of 60 feet. If someone else attacks with the pebble, that attacker adds your spellcasting ability modifier, not the attacker’s, to the attack roll. On a hit, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Hit or miss, the spell then ends on the stone.

If you cast this spell again, the spell ends early on any pebbles still affected by it.

Manifestation

There are a few ways to differentiate this spell's manifestations such as a Druid turning the stone onto a stone insect that flies towards the target, or a Wizard shaping runes into the surface of the stones. An artificer might shape the stones into bullets and place them in a single shot pistol that is destroyed once shot. Ultimately the consistent manifestation is that a small stone projectile is magically transformed in such a was as to make it a magical piece of ammunition.

Source
