Mage Hand Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Mage Hand

This is an evergreen utility cantrip who's purpose is versatile and limited by the creativity of the user, with some minor caveats. This spell can't be used to make attacks and it can't activate magical items, even if the activation is as simple as the pressing of a button. This spell can't unlock doors or containers and it can't disarm traps, although it can set off traps that aren't magic if the mechanism that springs the trap can be activated with 10 pounds of force or less. While you can not lift creatures with it, you could always use it to hand them a rope or tie a knot. You might be surprised at the uses you can find for Mage Hand if you're creative and keep the basic restrictions in mind.

Effect

A spectral, floating hand appears at a point you choose within range. The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. The hand vanishes if it is ever more than 30 feet away from you or if you cast this spell again.

You can use your action to control the hand. You can use the hand to manipulate an object, open an unlocked door or container, stow or retrieve an item from an open container, or pour the contents out of a vial. You can move the hand up to 30 feet each time you use it.

The hand can’t attack, activate magical items, or carry more than 10 pounds.

Side/Secondary Effects

Unless otherwise stated, the hand is visible making surreptitious use of the hand difficult.

Manifestation

The color, and shape of this hand varies based on the caster but is visible unless otherwise stated.
