Lightning Lure Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Lightning Lure

Lightning Lure is a spell defined by its straightforward purpose. This spell is both a ranged and melee centered spell. This Cantrip is used to pull a target into melee range so that you can start attacking with melee abilities. This spell is one one of my favorites because of the respectable damage and the large number of classes and subclasses that can make good use of this spell. The important thing to remember is that the target only takes the lightning damage if the spell resolves with the target within 5 feet of the caster. Spells or abilities that reduce or eliminate forced movement are rare but do exist.

Effect

Target one creature of your choice that you can see within 15 feet of you. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pulled up to 10 feet in a straight line toward you and then take 1d8 lightning damage if it is within 5 feet of you.
At Higher Levels. This spell's damage increases by 1d8 when you reach 5th level (2d8), 11th level (3d8), and 17th level (4d8).

Side/Secondary Effects

The smell of ozone and burnt hair is a common side effect of this spell.

Manifestation

The spell's common manifestation is a bolt of lightning attaching in some way to a target and pulling them towards the caster. The link need not be visible perse but the direction of the target's motion and the verbal components make it clear who is casting the spell and who is the target. The screams of pain might also give it away.

Source

The magic needed for this spell is pulled from The Weave.
Gestures & Ritual
This spell requires only a verbal component. A word of lightning or air or binding spoken forcefully should do the trick.
