Guidance

This is an evergreen spell for casters focused on support or problem solvers. Casting this spell is a little bit of extra insurance before an important ability check. It should be noted that tool checks count towards this so having Guidance cast on you prior to making any kind of crafting roll is a great way to increase the quality of an item.

Effect

Once before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to one ability check of its choice. It can roll the die before or after making the ability check. The spell then ends.

Side/Secondary Effects

The sounds of your DM's teeth grinding as they watch you roll a d4 for Guidance, another die for Bardic Inspiration, another die for Bless, another d6 for Memory of a Past Life, and another d20 from the Help action. Does a 36 make the DC?

Sometimes it's a wise word at the right time, sometimes it's a magical sprite or spirit guiding your hands, or maybe it's just your Artificer micro managing you again? The manifestations of this spell takes many forms.
