Druidcraft Spell in The Extended Perkinsverse | World Anvil

Druidcraft

Whispering to the spirits of nature, you create one of the following effects within range:

  • You create a tiny, harmless sensory effect that predicts what the weather will be at your location for the next 24 hours. The effect might manifest as a golden orb for clear skies, a cloud for rain, falling snowflakes for snow, and so on. This effect persists for 1 round.
  • You instantly make a flower blossom, a seed pod open, or a leaf bud bloom.
  • You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as falling leaves, a puff of wind, the sound of a small animal, or the faint odor of skunk. The effect must fit in a 5-foot cube.
  • You instantly light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.

Effect

This spell's effect is fairly subtle but can be extremely useful depending on the situation and the creativity of the caster. Druidcraft can replace certain tools and skill proficiencies in survival situations and assist in exploration. Predicting the weather can help in planning expeditions, although it can not predict magical manipulations of the weather. Causing flowers to bloom, seed pods to open or leaf buds to bloom is an excellent way to acquire rare ingredients that only bloom at certain times of year, or acquire seeds to rare plants. Creating small sensory effects are the bread and butter of any illusionist or magical conman. Lighting and snuffing small fires is potentially useful in combat or survival, replacing something like flint and steel, or combat a fire that is spreading out of control.   The versatility and utility of this seemingly simple cantrip is an example of how non-combat spells are some of the most powerful spells a caster can have at their disposal.

Manifestation

Largely being the province of Druids, the manifestations of this spell are reflective of Primal Magics being accompanied by the scent of plants or earth, the crackle of lightning or the serendipitous occurrence of birds and wind and insects enacting the intention of the caster.
