Steamwork Engines

Trains are not a new invention. The colossal Celestial City, a kingdom more or less intact from the time before the Cataclysm, is filled with a series of underground train tunnels. Although only a small collection of them are still functioning.
But more recently, the Clockwork Empire has begun running proper trains between its major outposts and towns. These trains are still intended for the rich or the powerful, with most coaches being extremely luxurious, and only the most influential merchants being able to afford shipping. Produced and put in place through the actions of the Viciti Machina corporation.
These trains, known as Steamwork Engines due to them using steam as their primary method of locomotion, can be found operating in 8 major lines. There is the Potts Line which runs from the East gate to the West Docks, the King Line that runs from the North Gate and the South Gate, the Imperial line that runs from the South Gate to Diggersveil, the Endarium line that runs from Diggersveil to the Boneyard, and then there are the four metalic lines that run from the northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwestern corners of Simmsmout leading to the center of the city and the Clockwork Temple. These lines are the Bronze Line, the Iron Line, the Gold Line, and the Silver Line.
Like all trains, these machines run on pre-ordained tracks. But given how expensive line travel can be, often times the Steamwork trains will remain dormant until specifically rented out for use by one of the major corporations for transportation of officials and merchandise. The lines located within Simmsmout are notable for their flexibility. In addition to their tracks, many of the lines in Simmsmout have variant height options, allowing for the train to be raised and lowered allowing for better access to different levels within the vertical structure of the capitol.
The Steamwork Engines are much faster than the basic single carriage railcar, and due to their larger size the allow for individuals to carry more objects with them as they travel. Furthermore, most lines have in car catering, bars, and salons, as well as individual rooms and sleeping cars.
