Eerie Land of Living Rock

These pink and colorful landscapes may seem serene and peaceful to an unknowing traveler. But just out of eyesight lies a whole host of malicious and malevolent creatures bent on one thing. Survival.

Geography

The Coral Planes are a vast stretch of lands from the edges of the Ebenglade to the Pits of the Necrotic Wastes. They are predominantly flat with little change in terms of elevation outside of the coral growths themselves. A few rivers cut through the Planes, however due to the ever changing shape of the land due to the growing and shrinking coral, using them for navigation and travel is rarely advised.

Fauna & Flora

The most notable part of the Coral Planes is of course, the coral. The small soft bodied creatures grow un-naturally large in this area, likely as a side effect of the Cataclysm, and seem to no longer need water to filter feed from, rather they seem to feed on the necrotic energy that permeates the ground throughout the Wuld, however, when given a chance, one of the more aggressive breeds of coral will not hesitate to devour an unsuspecting adventurer.
However it is not just the odd carnivorous coral that has to be watched out for. There is much worse that lives in the Planes.
Zer'Kai are an aggressive, omnivorous swarming species of insect. Each one standing at around 1 meter tall, they may not seem much of a threat on their own, but they move and attack in swarms, picking clean caravans and herds of wild Angonath in minutes.
Congala's and Dire Congala's use their powerful jaws and hooked front claws to break open coral and consume the creatures inside. So feared is the Dire Congala that the Zer'Kai avoid attacking one directly.

Natural Resources

Coral is highly sought after. While it stops growing when exported from the Planes, its bright colors and density makes it valuable for stonemasons around the Wuld.
