The Reghed Tribes, often referred to simply as the Reghedians, are the proud descendants of the
Southlander tribes who endured
The Great Floods of 1532 CE and later migrated southward to the frigid edges of the Rahgar Glacier. In 1700 CE, they returned to the now-frozen lands of their ancestors, adapting to the harsh tundra and solidifying their legacy as "Children of the Glacier."
These nomadic tribes embody the untamed spirit of the Southlands through their fierce independence and rugged traditions. Known by their animalistic tribal identities—the Elk, the Tiger, the Wolf, and the Bear—they are as wild and enduring as the creatures they emulate. Though the people of Frostheim view them as barbarians, the Reghedians proudly reject what they see as the fragility of civilized life, choosing instead to embrace a tribal way that has sustained them through countless, bitter winters.
Structure and Society
In the past, the four main tribes often stood as rivals, with tensions sometimes escalating into skirmishes. Some smaller tribes have faded or even disbanded over the last century, with many former members abandoning their ancestral ways to settle within the villages of Frostheim. Of the remaining tribes, the Tribe of the Elk stands as the most influential, its people deeply respected and often feared by their kin. Historically, the Reghedians have raided Frostheim’s settlements for resources and slaves, though in recent times, such raids have been infrequent. Instead, the tribes have taken to limited trade with settlements like Ulfsfell and Svarholt, where many of their distant relatives still reside. This new alliance has allowed the Reghedians to better arm themselves, fortify their winter gear, and improve their sustenance, strengthening their resolve and resilience despite their dwindling numbers.
The People
Physically imposing, the Reghedians are markedly taller than the average Fjallkin, with some human and elven men nearing seven feet in height. With striking blue eyes, and hair hues of blond, red, or light brown, their appearance is as vivid as the landscape they traverse. Their skin, weathered by wind and sun, has a bronzed, leathered quality, etched with lines that tell of countless journeys across the tundra. Clad in brightly dyed furs and leather, they stand out against the muted tones of the snowy wilderness, bearing their colors as proudly as any crest.
Nomadic Life
The Reghedians follow a migratory lifestyle, shadowing reindeer herds on their annual journey northward in winter and southward in summer. Their camps are crafted from large, round deerskin tents, supported by sturdy beams sourced from the Bladescar Ridge. In each encampment, the tribe’s king and notable members—shamans, esteemed hunters, and honored warriors—dwell within a central ring of larger tents, while warriors sleep beside open campfires, blanketed by thick furs and the flickering warmth of flames. Surrounding this inner circle are smaller tents and scattered fires, where the rest of the tribe makes their temporary home.
