Chardalyn
Chardalyn is a rare, naturally occuring substance mined in nugget form in the South Redrun and North Redrun regions of The Southlands.
When discovered by the Fjallkin, these oval shaped black stones were described as 'useless rocks' by the miners, but their affinity for magic was soon discovered. These nuggets were as brittle as glass and turned into powder then they were forcefully hurled against a solid object.
During the early years of the Age of Heroes, the rarity and fragility of chardalyns contribute to their high base value of 20,000 gp.
A single chardalyn can absorb one spell, which is released when the stone is crushed of destroyed. This is a natural ability of the substance and does not require any magical preparation or treatment beforehand.
