Trains, Guns, and Dinos
General Summary
“Welcome Outlaws to Atrad Reptiel. A vast desert and lush jungle region native to numerous dinosaurian and prehistoric beasts. These lands once we’re home to lizard people from distant lands. But after a drought transformed half the jungle into a harsh arid desert, most of the lizardfolk migrated elsewhere. Now in recent centuries, the land has been inhabited by humanoids who have come seeking the rich metals within the land. They have pioneered the region and turned it into a westernized styled land with several shanty and boom towns across the region. Utilizing mostly revolvers, repeaters, and other ranged firearms to pierce the thick hides of the countless reptiles and prehistoric mammals that wander the land, they manage to defend themselves from the dangers of Atrad Reptiel. Additionally, the pilgrims to this land have tamed the wild, conquering the prehistoric creatures and mounting them to traverse the land. Many mysteries still remain and fortune is out there to those bold enough to explore”
“You have been hired by a man known as Scral Hollowfinger, a corrupt lawman of the only government within Atrad Reptiel, the city-state of Vivo. He has hired you all to rob a heavily armed train on it’s way to the city of Vivo that is transporting a special cargo within it’s hold. I’n return, whatever gold and wealth that remains on the ship is for the party. You are all to retrieve this special cargo, and transport it safely away from the train. Your mounts will be adequate in reaching the back of the train, however, the front and rest of the train are covered in weaponry capable of decimating any mounted threats. Your best bet is to enter through the last train car of the train and then work your way to the front.”
The party meet atop their prehistoric mounts alongside the train tracks lying in wait for the armored train. They take a brief moment to talk amongst themeselves, introduces each character one by one. Making up the party of mercenaries are:
Aponi Maji, the Human Beastmaster of the Sands
Nap’ol Yon, the Grung Gunslinger of the Wastes
Caiphal, the Betrayer
Kellogg, the Red Eye
In the distance, the party spot a train approaching, eventually a giant armored train passes them and the party give chase. Jumping onto the rear of the train, the party manage to climb aboard, shooting and killing several armed guards.
As they continue to the next car, they find themselves on a platform car with numerous mining equipment strapped down. Suddenly, the train is then attacked by a third party, a band of dwarves riding atop an armored stegosaurus. They board the train and begin to battle the party over the rights of the heist. During the battle, the train enters a dark tunnel, and in the darkness hundreds of eyes are seen. Jumping onto the train as well, numerous Troodons attack everyone nearby. Caiphal shines a light alongside the tunnel walls to reveal a large pack of Troodons have nested within this tunnel/cave, using paralyzed victims of their venomous salivia as living nests for their young. The party slaughter all in their way and throw the dwarves overboard who are then devoured by the Troodons.
The next car is a large passenger car that has been fortifed by the guards. Entering it, they find a gattling gun which has been bolted to the floor. The party coordinate their attacks and take down the guards, including a pack of reinforcements who rode in on raptorback.
The party move onto the next car, discovering a large fortified bunker like car with little exits in or out. There are windows for mounted guns along the train to shoot, along with several guards inside. The party manage to bust through inside and discover two carnosaurus protecting the guards inside. After a lengthy fight, the party manage to destroy all the foes inside and continue onward.
Coming to the next car, they see it is a large cage with a sleeping triceratops inside. Above them, are numerous guards mounted on a AA gun. As the party attempt to sneak past through the triceratops cage, the train is attacked by another third party, as savage lizard men fly down from above atop winged pternadons. The guards fire back at the aerial assaliants whilst the party continues. Just as the party reach the next car, a massive wyvern appears and destroys the car, severing the coupling and leaving only the unexplored cars left of the train.
The party reach a strange car, protected by a airlocked and sealed door. Inside the car, a bizzare lab is found, containing numerous artifacts, specimins, tools, materials, machines, bones, and even bodies. Alongside the walls are various writings and notes, also large green vats of strange bio fluid. The room is also destroyed, completely torn apart by fire and lightning. The party additionally discover two things, a cryo stasis chamber that appears to be ripped open and missing whatever it is meant to be kept in cryo stasis, and they discover a research document detailing a device that has a light blue crystal shard inside, the shard appears broken and is violently shaking. Alongside the bottom of it is a single initial sign “D.B”. There is a warning label on the device that says “Warning, Extremely Dangerous, Handle with ultimate precaution, Do not breach containment” as a side note there is a passage detailing “Tina likes shiny things, do not let Tina eat this”.
Moving forward, they see a secondary car that connects directly to the first via a tube that’s door is broken open. The car is metallic and has several supports and bars around it. There is electric wiring around the door that’s broken off, sending sparks in the air.
Entering the car, they notice the entire room is covered in darkness, except a single dangling light in the center of the room which is lighting a body of a scientist bleeding and growing slightly. There are broken cages in the room which stack on top of each other. Hay is scattered throughout the room and the stench of death and ash is prevalent. A scientists is injured and in the center of the room, he cries out for help. Upon entering the room, the party sense they are being watched. Then they are attacked quickly and mercilessly by some sort of invisable beasts. The beasts breathe lightning and fire and after a tense combat, the party manage to get a hit on one of these foes, revealing it to be a Raptor, but not just any raptor, a strange bizzare looking hybrid creauture, a Draconic Raptor. They just barley manage to kill all four of these superior hybrid beasts and continue onward.
Leaving the cargo hold, the next car is a massive metal car that is padlocked. The party use a catwalk on the side of the car to walk by it, there is no way to enter the car visibly. Something massive is heard inside this car however, banging against the metal.
They enter the control room of the train to discover it long abandoned, the engineers all dead or missing. The party sneak down to the engine room of the train to discover an entire pack of Draconic Raptors nesting in the warmth of the engines and bathing in gallons of oil from leaking oil barrels. They also find there is a sphere canister container in the center of their nest alongside several eggs. Kellogg sneaks to the nest and steals the container and it's eggs, running back to the others just in time as Caiphal ignites the oil, exploding the engines of the train. To escape their certain death, Kellogg activates his helm of teliportation to teliport the party to the front of the train. The train derails from the explosion, and the party is thrown off the train into a lush jungle below.
Waking up, the party discover themselves in the debris of the train crash. They recover themselves briefly, only to witness as the padlocked metal car explode open revealing a massive Draconic Rex that was previously captive. The party engage in a deadly battle with the Draconic Rex until they slay the beast. Upon it's death, the party discover a strange device with a light blue shard of some sort of crystal inside. At that moment they decide to open the other contrainer they fetched from the Draconic Raptor nest. Opening it, they discover various embreos for numerous differnet species of Draconic Dinosaur hybrids.
As the party investigate their belongings, they are suddenly found by Scral Hollowfinger, the man who hired them for the job. Distrusting Scral's motivations, they ready themselves to fight for their loot and lives. But before any attacks can begin, Scral fires countless rounds at the party, one striking the device with the shard inside. The device ruptures, stopping time around the party and fracturing reality. A gaping dark rift in time and space opens and the party are thrown into it, sending themselves across the universe and all of known time.
In the end, after being randomly sent throughout the universe across space and time via the artifact shard. Each party member finds themselves in different situatiuons:
Aponi finds herself transported to the Primodial Plane, a realm of beasts and carnage, the perfect home and hunting ground for a beastmaster such as herself.
Nap’ol finds himself in a strange land, a forest of autumn trees, and a dense fog blocking his view. Walking further he finds himself getting lost, walking in circles endlessly, hopelessly. a being confronts Nap'ol, a being with long antlers on his head and made of total darkness with two bright white eyes. He offers to help Nap'ol return home, if he only helps the being in return. Nap'ol accepts and the being introduces himself as "the Beasts" and welcomes Nap'ol to "The Great Unknown".
Caiphal finds himself in the Abyss, there he is found by his master and lord, Khorne the Blood God. Khorne commends Caiphal, detailing there is much to do and much to prepare.
Kellogg finds himself transported in a snowy abandoned castle. Exploring it, he finds a young Czarian bleeding to death healing himself and then entering a door. Kellogg then finds multiple Behemoth Thralls that chase after him. Emerging from the debris of the castle, numerous mountain sized giants of various sizes and looks come rumbling down the mountainside. As Kellogg runs, he is struck by a bolt of orange lightning and is transformed into a Behemoth.
