The Cavern of Darkness

General Summary

"It is a time of exploration and expansion! The Silverclaw Guild has just recently purhcased and taken over the Kingdom of Vitova and has transformed it's government into The Silverclaw Federation. However, with this new age, the federation's treasury has been depleted. Luckily, a fabled cavern on a lone island off the coast of Castra Ostria is said to hold immeasurable wealth and secrets. Many adventurers have been sent to this island by the federation, none have returned. However, this does not stop Gilgamesh the Ancient Monk, Amber the Barbarian, and a random unknown female halfing paladin, who have also been hired by The Silverclaw Federation to find this lost fortune.   Together, the party sail off the coast of Castra Ostria in search of the lost island. They eventually find a lone island that they believe to be the place they are looking for. Disembarking from their ship, they search through the jungles of the very small island and find a large cave opening with pointy rocks that resemble teeth. Entering the cave they soon discover that it streches out for half a mile, along with unsual rock formations and structures. Eventually they find a large hole in the ground and with a massive gust of wind they are sucked into the hole.   They find themselves in a strange cavern, that slowly begins to fill with a unusual black tar substance. The tar rises and almost engulfs the party but they are quickly saved by Captain Kelly, a crazy pirate who also has been trapped in the caves. He uses his grappling hook to help lift the party out of the cave they were sucked into and into a differnet cave network. Captain Kelly introduces himself, and explains they are not inside any cave, they are inside a WORM. A massive giant worm that he fought long ago, it stole his leg and killed his crew. Captain Kelly then hunted him down but alas was swallowed and has been trapped inside the worm for a month.   The party are then ambushed by a gang of straving Kobolds. After the gang is killed, they are approached by a blind Kobold who was hiding in the shadows named Dumb Fuck. Dumbfuck explains there is a Race War between the Kobolds and a faction of Goblins/Orcs. The Kobolds stay near the surface of the worm's mouth, but still can't reach the top. They worship the grappling hook and rope and those that use them are angels from heaven. The goblins stays deep within the cavern/worm and worships the beast and uses it’s stomach bile to mutate themselves for power.   Dumb Fuck reveals that he lives with a Human named Nightsten nearby. The party follow Dumb Fuck through the cave network until they reach the small cave in which Nightsten lives. They intoduce themselves and discover Nightsten is crippled, his legs missing. Nightsten reveals that the worm is known as a Devorik and he has a plan to escape the worm. The worm's tar liquid/blood allows the worm to remain in hibernation for years, as it hardens the flesh to a stone like tissue and waits for prey to wander into it's mouth like a venus flytrap. If they can reach the stomach of the worm, they can explode it using an explosive that Nightsten had on him when he fell into the worm, and leak the stomach acid into the worm's heart, which should wake up the worm from it's hibernation and spit up the party back to the surface.   The party battle throughout the worm's innards until they reach the inner stomach. They witness the cabal of goblins/orcs mutate an entire group of goblins in the stomach acid, turning all five of them into a single massive behemoth goblinoid monster. As the party fight against the orcs, the situation seems dire. In desperation, the party betray Nightsten and push him into the stomach acid, transforming Nightsten into a large humanoid behemoth creature. Nightsten and the Goblin Behemoths fight as Captain Kelly flanked the battle. He reached the vital organ of the stomach and with explosives he got from Nightsten, exploded the stomach. The whole party were thrown up and knocked unconscious, as the mouth of the worm slowly closed with them right at the mouth's opening. But luckily, Amber the Barbarian managed to save everyone by reviving them all and just barley escaping as the mouth closed.   They then are stranded at sea, as the worm emerges from it's dormant state, destroying the island it once lay asleep in. The worm cries out to the air, communicating to other Devoriks far away in distant lands. The party remains stranded at sea, their fates unknown to the crashing waves of the sinking island and the burrowing worm.
Promt: “It is the Era of New Order, the newly formed Silverclaw Guild has taken over the Kingdom of Vitova and has turned the city of Pesa into it’s new capital. The Silverclaw Guild has now transformed into the Silverclaw Federation and has begun expanding and influencing its neighboring factions. However, many rival trading companies and world powers stand in its way to glory. As well as several pirates and rogue kingsmen, the Silverclaw Federation has a surplus of problems to face before it can fully declare itself to the world. Luckily, a fabled cavern on a lone island off the coast of Castra Ostria is said to hold immeasurable wealth and secrets. Legends foretell of a lost dungeon, a final burying place for an Old God, a dragon’s lair, and even stories of eternal life and celestial power. Hoping to refinance their treasury, the Silverclaw Federation has dispatched several adventuring parties to recover the valuables within. None have returned. You three, have departed from Cularo and after weeks of voyage, you have spotted dry land. Believing the extremely small island to be the one you have been searching for, you depart from your dingy and venture inland, eager to descend into the Cavern of Darkness."
