Tribes of the Seasons
The world was new, and the seasons changed. The world grew, and the seasons changed. The world thrived, and the seasons changed. The world
stumbled, and the seasons changed. The world fell, and the seasons changed. The world has died, and still the seasons change. There are four great avatars to the Tribes of the Seasons, each ruling for only a few lunar cycles. The Tribes watch the skies, watch the trees, and know the changing of the cycles. The Tribe celebrate each turn of the season, knowing that with proper offerings the wheel will continue on.
Divine Origins
The Tribes’ origin is shrouded in mystery. It seems that they just appeared all at once in the remote areas. They were most apparent among the Natural Ones who had turned their backs on a fallen civilization, but later bolstered by those who saw the results of the failed attempts to prop it back up. The Tribes certainly
aren’t talking, but there are whispers that it somehow predates the fall, that people were being drawn to the faith even before humanity began to crumble. Those sensitive or emphatic enough to sense the direction nature was headed simply left their homes and jobs and moved back to a more pastoral way of life. There they gathered, and prepared for the inevitable end of modern luxury and boundless resources. The Tribes watch and fight and wait as time passes around them, doing as they have done, eternal, carrying forward with the seasons until this very day, and they will no doubt continue to do when this time too has passed.
Tenets of Faith
• The cycle of the seasons is proof that the world will continue,
and that there are forces outside the suffering of this world
that we cannot understand.
• Each season must rule in kind, if a season is without
followers, then none rule during that period and no
decisions can be made.
• Mark the turning of the seasons with the natural rites,
never turn another away from your ceremonies.
• The seasons rule in all places that the seasons exist, be it
forest or be it city. Do not let the ways of the local
people sway your faith.
• Those of the tribe may call on the aide of the other tribes
in turn with their season.
• Let our Springs be fruitful, our Summers productive, our
Autumns feared, and our Winters insightful.
Worship
The philosophy of the Tribe may appear simple and new-agey, but it’s not so cut and dried. It is a philosophy that changes with the wheel of the year, so the same individual that may be brash and aggressive in the fall will be staid and thoughtful in winter, while emerging in the spring to revelry that would shame a Hedon. The wheel rolls ever forward, and the Tribes do what they can to keep up with it. The Tribes of the Season are a creed based on the idea that each turning season is unto itself its own reflection of God. The Spring is the reflection of growth, and a time for celebration and sowing the fields. The Summer is the aspect of hunting and crafting, where the fields are tilled and material is crafted into goods. The fall marks the time of death, where wars are traditionally started and excursions clearing away the undead horde are most common. Lastly, the Winter is a time of slumber and spiritual introspection. Each person who is a follower of the Seasons is assigned to a specific Tribe, based on what natural skills they exhibit. No one is expected to shift all of their efforts every season, or else nothing would ever get done. The Tribe of Spring mostly is filled with Farmers, Scavengers, and those that gather the products of the land. The Tribe of Summer has Brewers, Builders, and Crafters in its ranks. Those of Fall are strong warriors who bring destruction to the undead who plague the seasons. Lastly, those strong of mind such as priests, scholars, and other educated sorts rule the Winter. Each Tribe of Season conducts rites in regards to the honoring of their season, and each in turn rule the Tribes as a whole when their season is in focus.
Priesthood
Each Tribe of Season has one leader, who is chosen at the start of each coming of the appropriate season. That leader, the Calends, is responsible for orchestrating and designing the rites of that season, until the time where that season comes to an end.
