Culture and cultural heritage

In the times of the Forgotten Realms, a creature born of dragon flesh with goblin like stature was hunted and killed by many adventurers. The masses called these creatures Kobolds. They were known for their viciousness in numbers, but also their aptitude for making traps and building structures that were difficult to breech. They made use of intricate tunnels beneath the ground that protected them from most direct attacks. In addition, they had been known to take over abandoned mines and tunnel systems, becoming masters at sneaky defense.
These creatures were smart and crafty. They used a dead language only known to the Dragon Gods to communicate. They called themselves Drogorn, a name to incite strength and courage in their descendants.
The Drogorn were created by the greed of Dragonborn leaders. Their need for an army had led them to experimenting with their own kind and buying unknown potions from the black market merchants. They kept word of their ongoing work a secret from their people and crafted a poison they planned to test on some lesser known Dragonborn kin. They spent years formulating the poison before attempting their first test.
A colony of Dragonborn, in order to spike fertility, had been fed the poison secretly through their own water source. It didn't take long before it mutated and led to a wave of births with high defect rates. Not wanting their failures to be known, the Dragonborn leaders attempted to eradicate the entire colony but ultimately failed. They sent their soldiers to cut down the men, women, and children under the guise of an infectious disease spreading. They had not thought of a possibility of failure, but the soldiers hesitated at the sight of the 'grotesque' creatures their kin were calling children. The parents begged for the young to be spared and promised to leave the Dragonborn lands. Wanting to protect their young, detested as they were, all of the mothers and fathers took to caves and swore off their loyalties to their topside kin. They could no longer trust the outside world.
As generations went by, the Drogorn developed a sensitivity to natural light and shorter growth periods, becoming less and less like their ancestral kin. Over time they became omnivorous hunters, with flight being impossible as they lost the development of wings. Their minds began to speak to them in a different way than the Dragonborn; it was called mindspeech. They had little reason to communicate with the outside world and kept to themselves. A few generations in, the Drogorn started to fully develop a society to sustain themselves.
The ones responsible for their creation pushed for adventurers to eliminate the creatures and society trusted them, believing they were monsters coming to cause destruction. They would pass rumors around to stir up the masses and soon they just had to watch the demise of the creatures.
After the displacement, the Drogorn took to the cold and dark of the Northern Sulmorn Mountains. Out of fate, or terrible luck, the Dragonborn had a similar idea and lay siege on any Drogorn they came across along the way.
